Elevated CA 15-3 and Cholesterol

I have not been able to find any information in regards to elevated CA 15-3 and cholesterol and wondered if this has happened to any others.

I saw my PCP, 2 weeks ago (yearly exam) followed a few days later, my 3-month Onc Appt. My PCP called me a few days later to inform me, my cholesterol is sky high, over 300. The day before my Onc's office called, informing me,  the cancer markers are extremely elevated, and he has ordered both a PET and 2 CTs. My CA 15-3 was 35 or higher on my previous appointment but I forgot to ask about the presnet number.

As I wait for scan results I started to wonder,  could the two be connected in some way? I did have some leisons on last few scans, along with "activity" in spine and hip, but Onc said to ignore everything. It's not easy to ignore this,  when I am in so much pain.

Have any of you experienced mets, and noticed that both your CA and Cholesterol numbers became very elevated - quickly?

I am interested in others answers to your question. I was recently hospitalized for an unrelated issued. While there they did blood work. They said my cholesterol was high. What was strange to me was I had it checked 2mths ago and it was fine?

Exactly Tiffany. Mine was tested about 3 months ago, and "slightly" evelvated. (a little over 100) so it was rechecked a month later, and had dropped. Still slightly higher than my Dr wanted it to be, but still within normal (high normal) Now it's over 300!!!!!!!! My CA 15-3 was 35 - at that time. (It was less than that when I was DX stage 3 Grade 9)  Now it's suppose to be very elevated, but - darn - I forgot to ask what it is - at this time.

I was googling last night and came upon this site:http://www.medicinenet.com/liver_cancer/page4.htm

The results are from an African study, but people are people, right? It says, (and I quote);                     "Another abnormal blood test, high serum cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia), is seen in up to 10% of patients from Africa with liver cancer. The high cholesterol occurs because the liver cancer cells are not able to turn off (inhibit) their production of cholesterol. (Normal cells are able to turn off their production of cholesterol.........Metastatic cancer in the liver (originating in other organs"

I was wondering if your doctors put you on Femara.  My cholesterol was 104 but when started on Femara it skyrocketed to over 300.  I had to stop all such medication and go onto statins because of such.  The reports that Aromastin medication has no side effects is so wrong.  It also caused inflammation.  So you if you are taking any of these medications after treatment you should be aware and speak with your doctors about the possible causes.
