vhshea, I had my 1st yoga class post mastectomy,  right after my 6 week check-up. My surgeon said ok, start with a gentle class.... I went home to get my mat, found a restorative class, and I was back!  After your surgery, make sure that you do gentle stretches as soon as your surgeon allows you to do so.  In 10 years of yoga practice, I only missed those 6 weeks post-op.  Sittting on my mat that 1st day back was just like coming home.

I used to have a group of friends that got together weekly to do Yoga together. (that was before we moved)  One of the things I learned at that time is to not push your body past what is comfortable.  If you had too much tension or pain you are going to far.  One time I thought I try pushing a little farther, tore the meniscus in my knee. Ouch! I should have listened to my body.

We used videos, my favorites were Yoga Zone, with Alan finger.  There is a Premiere set of 4, my two favorites are: Introduction to Yoga & Conditioning & Stress Relief.

I have to confess I'm just to lazy to get going again.  But I felt so much better, especially my back when I did Yoga.
