does anyone know where to buy a decent looking mastectomy bathing suit, either online or in the gta.  so far, i have only seen ugly ones. they look like they are made for a female wrestler, with bullet proof boobs. i have seen one at the bay and at sears, they were not too bad, but not that nice either.  i also need need to disuise my nice belly that the chemo and treatments gave me.

Good luck with your search., jackie. I got mine in one of our stores for larger ladies, Evans, although i'm actually not much larger than averagely cuddly/tubby, thier styles are cut flattering. Loving your descriptions! When i went to the local pool, I braved a Ladies-only session, it was water aerobics I think, and believe me that is where our Sumo-sisters hang out! You would feel like a twiggy-model in the hippo-pool if you came here! Anyway I wanted to say we also did an extended family beach trip over easter Brrrrr!! and I braved up a bit more and used this: Sports bra with falsie, then sleeveless vest top to cover cleaveage and mid-back, then big-lady swimsuit with skirty-thing, then shorts pulled up under the skirty bit to cover the tops of my legs. All in black., Apparently the overall effect was quite effective and i wasn't cold because of all the layers! I did have spare everything to change into immediately afterwards.

The catalogues we get here include Anita, Nicola-jane, Amoena and several others, they have some lovely styles depends how brave you are, i never did bikinis before and not about to start now ,Wishing you luck!

    Hi Jackie

This is a very challenging thing to find indeed.  Especially if you need plus sizes which I do thanks to all this lovely hormone therapy.

The following websites have a decent selection and it wasn't difficult to get a bathing suit from either of them shipped to Toronto.

    www.landsend.com or www.swimsuitsforall.com

Let us know if you find one you like.

I found some very nice ones at a website from UK called "about the girl". I bought two bikinis and they were perfect! Great quality and stayed in position well. Very comfortable. I phoned the lady and had a good chat with the owner who had breast cancer a few years ago.

    Hi Jackie

Try going to Melmira on Yonge St., I got mine there last year and it really is pretty decent.  They have quite an extensive collection.  Good Luck

I know how difficult it is to find a great swimsuit that is fashionable.  Have you tried Amoena?  There suits are great!  I hope that this helps.

I have been lucky finding tankinis at Giant Tiger :)  For only $20! The quality isn't the greatest, but it's great to have a choice of a few suits :)  They're not specifically for mastectomy but they have a pouch in the bra for the padding.  I have 2 tankinis and one full.  They are fabulous! The silicone prosthesis fits just right.  And the straps are supportive enough for the weight of the silicone prosthesis :)

I am sure you could find some tankinis in other stores... just keep looking for the ones with removable padding.
