Sweet tooth and taxol

Options

Hi ladies,

I just had my 3rd taxol and feel out of control when it comes to eating sweets. Did this happend to anyone else? I had 4 AC but I was eating normal. I'm doing DD and having  immune injection. I eat without thinking. I wonder if it's emotional scare. I have 1 more taxol and then I'll be done. I guess I'm scared of what might happen...of the unknown. I would love to hear from others that might offer some advice.

I was given loads of steroids for my Taxol treatments and then benedryle the morning of treatment.  I am blaming the steroids for my 30 lbs weight gain during chemo.  I couldn't eat enough food!  I had even cut back on the amount of dexamethazone they had prescribed me and that didn't help at all.  Like you, I couldn't eat enough sweets.

2 years later and I am finally trying to get rid of those extra pounds.

    Did you oncologist prescribe steroids?

Thank you Jancie for your reply. Congratulations on losing all that weight!

Yes I'm on steroids and that's what my onc told me that the steroids will make me hungry. However I thought I'll eat normal food not sweets...lol

I've actually lost weight but I'm worried what the sugar is doing to my body.

    I appreciate your support.

I am eating more sweets than I have in a couple years!  I blame it on the taxotere messing up my sense of taste.  Most things taste like nothing or have an awful taste, but unfortunately, I found that if it's really sweet, it tastes better....  For example, I usually love eggs and bacon for breakfast.  Now, during my treatment, I prefer pancakes and syrup or french toast and syrup.  Same for drinks, Gatorade - lemon or Lemonade or Sweet Tea or Raspberry Tea......
