edited June 2014 in Lymphedema

Thank you all in advance for any feedback, as this forum has been so helpful to me! I have mild lymphedema in left arm and thumb from SLNB in November. I had Blmx on 4/19 and I am feeling better everyday. I do wear very light compression 15-20 arm sleeve and gauntlet as recommended by LE therapist prior to surgery. I was also taught MLD which I do every morning. I will be traveling to Park City,Utah at end of June for a week. I have seen position paper on air travel so I know to wear compression garments then, however what about while I am at higher elevation? In addition, should I wear higher compression 20-30? I hope everyone has a wonderful day! Randi

Best bet is to check with your LE therapist.  S/he will know your individual case and can make recommendations based on that.  I had no trouble at high elevations (was told to limit salt, drink plenty of fluids, and stay active), but it's worth being cautious and definitely worth checking with the professionals.  Good luck!

Randi - you are going to LOVE Park City.  If you have a chance - go to Midway while you are there - it is about a 20 minute drive from Park City.  There is the most awesome restaurant at the Blue Boar Inn - 5 star restaurant with 2 star prices.  The food is spectacular!

Thanks for the replies! I will call LE therapist as I don't want to have to wear garments 24/7. I am looking forward to seeing Park City, I really need to get away! Its actually a health retreat at The Canyons Hotel. Nothing but healthy foods, hikes, etc. Hopefully will be a great experience for mind and body!

My friend has a place at Park City and they LOVE it there.  I am sure you will have a great time!

I did meet a lady who had LE flares while traveling in Lake Tahoe, which is at 6K elevation.  I do not know her case history, but I know she did wear a sleeve.
