I was diagnosed at 46.  More and more younger women are getting diagnosed. It is not considered an older women disease like it used to be.  Very scary!

Mikel, I picked up the book that Deanna recommended Anti-Cancer, A New Way of Life. I've only had a chance to skim through it, but it looks interesting and also has practical info, like a ranked list of veggies and how they benefit patients w/ BC. I also found a book called The Definitive Guide to Cancer: An Integrative Approach to Prevention, Treatment, and Healing by Lise Alschuler and Karolyn Gazella.  It has a chapter on the immune system, including an interesting diagram about how cancer cells are created and then destroyed by our bodies. (these books were at my library; maybe yours too?) I hear your frustration and wish there were better news, but FYI in case those sources are helpful. One things that's hard is that cancer isn't just one disease; even BC is many different diseases. I'm hoping the rapid advances in genetics will speed along a cure (and remove the guesswork). karebear113, I hear ya about your mom being a stressball. I wish I were more relaxed and like you I wonder how much of our personalities we can change. FWIW, I'm trying some of those mind-body therapies (guided imagery, healing touch, I suppose I should try meditating again). I'll never be a mellow gal but maybe that will help (or maybe I just stopped stressing out about being stressed out. ha!)
