Not Dianosed Yet...
Hi Everyone, I am a 48 year male that started having breast pain about 9 weeks ago. I went to my GP at 4 weeks in and he ordered an ultrasound. The ultrasound came back as Normal. A week later I noticed that the breast I am having pain in had an inverted nipple as well. I went back to my GP last Thursday and he ordered a Mammogram. I had my mammogram on Monday morning and my GP called me Monday night and asked me to be in his office at 8:30 Tuesday morning(never a good call). The mammogram came back as BI-RADS 4 . I felt like my GP was trying to down play it a little since my ultrasound was normal. He has set up an appointment with a General Surgeon that I will see on June 1st. I have to tell you I am scared to death. I am also having pain in my left armpit ![]()
Just thought this would be a good place to share, thanks for listening.

Hi Ron, yes this is a very good place to share. To reassure you, BIRADS 4 comes back B9 80% of the time, although I know it is very scary to hear. I'm sending lots of B9 thoughts your way, and I am so glad you are following through with the surgeon. Whatever it is, get it out! Please keep us updated and let us know what happens, we're here for you. ((Hugs))

Hi Ron, you are now on the hardest part of the trip....the waiting. Once you have answers you'll start to feel a bit better - at least like you have some control. Then once you get those answers, come here and read, read, read and ask questions. Best to you. J9

Waiting for those results is very hard! I found the first month of the whole process to the the hardest.
Hang in there. You will be fine either way.

Hi Ron,
Just thought I would add my encouragement along with the others!
Please keep us updated.

Thanks for all the encouraging words.. Yeah I have never been good at playing the waiting game. I will keep you all updated as I get my test results.
Thanks again,
Ron

I got lucky today and called the Dr.s office to see if I could get in sooner and sure enough this afternoon they had a cancellation for Monday May 16th.
-
ron - glad you are able to get in earlier...the waiting and anticipation is so tough! ...hang in there and keep us posted!

Hi Ron...
Wishing you great luck on Mon. So encouraging to read more guys sharing their experiences! I have a special interest in this forum because my Dad was diagnosed with male breast cancer in the 90's. Much has changed since then, and one important change is that men are now speaking out about it. Fingers crossed for you... please keep us posted.
Rose.

I went to the Dr. Appointment today and I really dont know anything more than I did before going. The doctor did seemed concerned about all the changes in my breast. The next step in the process is going to be a ultrasound guided biopsy. I guess they are going to use the Mammo pics to see where to position the needle to pull the biopsy. When I had the ultrasound the first time it didnt show anything. The biopsy is scheduled for this Friday and then I go back to see her on Wed the 25th.

Hi Ron,
Sorry you didn't get more reassuring news! We'll be thinking of you as you get the biopsy, and hoping to hear benign results. Hang in there - the waiting really is torturous, but try to "keep your head where your feet are."
Best of luck and please let us know how it goes!
-
Hoping and praying that you will update us with great news that everything came back okay!
Hang in there Ron!
-
Thanks for all the positive thoughts... I went for a core biopsy on Friday now its the waiting game. I don't go back to the surgeon until Wed. so I am guessing if I don't get a call today that everything was good. I know that I am going to have anxiety every time my phone rings today...
-
Ron...
Hope you've received no phone calls today! No news is good news, you're right. Best of luck to you and let us know...

Keep us updated Ron.
Praying for good news!

Good Afternoon Everyone,
Just got my results and its B9
this comes with relief and still some concern. This was in the Pathology report:
Benign Breast Parenchyma with focal glandular and stromal changes of the type commonly associated with benign gynecomastia..( I thought this happened to both Breasts). I don't think I meet the requirements for gynecomastia.
The doctor did want me to come back in six months and we will do another US and Mammo and she told me if I had any more changes to call ASAP. The Dr. also said if there was any more changes we would talk about surgery and just remove the two areas of concern.
I see my primary care doctor in a couple of weeks and will talk to him about maybe a second opinion just to ease my mind.
Thank you guys for the great support !!!! You guys are an awesome group of people !!!!

FANTASTIC NEWS, Ron!!!! The key word is BENIGN! So happy for you, and don't underestimate how much you've encouraged other guys who may be following this thread with similar concerns. The very best of luck to you. Go celebrate this Memorial weekend!
