No change in nodule on MRI...is this good news?

Options

Three months ago I had an MRI for back pain, which found a 5 mm nodule at T8. I was told to come back after three months for a follow-up scan, which I just completed and there has been absolutely no change. My oncologist says that we will check again in three months, then six, then one year, then two; if at the end of that time there is still no change, they will consider it benign. That is nearly three years from now, and although I know that she can't tell me it's nothing bad without knowing that for sure, I wonder if anybody else has had anything like this found on MRI that turned out to be just an incidental finding (bone spur, blood vessel, etc.) and not metastasis. I am also wondering if those of you who are dealing with metastasis have had a lesion remain unchanged for a period of months and then start to progress. My cancer was Triple Negative, Grade 3, so pretty aggressive; I would expect a metastasis from the original cancer to more fairly quickly, too. At any rate, I am just guessing at this point and wondered if there was anyone out there who could enlighten me a bit more than my doctor, who is of course trying to be careful not to mislead me in any way. Thanks for your time...
