So along came a spider...I bumped my hand
On something hard tonight...I was actually brushing away a spider. It is a bit swollen near the knuckle.
I have not been sleeping in garments...my arm seems to go down either way, and I am still waiting for my night sleeve. Wearing the silverwave so much can be a little irritating.
So my thought is to just wear my glove tonight...because most of my le is in my upper...and why push anything down. But part of me worries I will wake up with some sort of crazy damage.
Also my glove needed to be washed and dried...I use an isotoner with wiggle foam when I need to...but this does not seem like the rite time to take chances.
It's ironic because someone in my support group mentioned cellulitis can be caused by hitting your arm on a desk and getting a micro tear.
I did put on ice for a bit, but that seemed to be making things swell worse.
F-king spider!

Argh...I know how you feel.
I spent the weekend with my foot up as I got my third case of cellulitis in my left ankle after someone accidentally kicked me in the shin. No break in the skin, but my ankle was very slightly swollen. At least I was able to start antibiotics right away (my doctor's office take me seriously when I call and say I think I am getting cellulitis) and things are much improved.
What I find ironic is that I get cellulitis in my ankle even though I have truncal le and both my arms are affected. I did have a total hip replacement and my doctor says my lymph system in my left leg is also compromised.
I don't know how to advise you re wearing your glove tonight or not. I hope someone comes along with some advice and you wake up tomorrow and your hand is perfectly fine.

Thanks lisa-E~

ccokiegal, how is your hand this morning? I really hope all is okay.
-
well the good news i guess, it it does not look like cellulitis
the bad news..it was a bit swollen. So far my LE has stayed away from my hand....I hope this is not the start.
thanks for asking lisa!!!!

Cookie, what a rotten worry! (What a rotten spider!
)
ANY temperature extreme can aggravate LE, so cool is okay but cold is not. You know how if you're outside in winter having a snowball fight and your hands get all frozen and red, then when you go inside they swell and hurt until you drink a mug of cocoa and thaw out? That's because the cold makes swelling happen too, and since our lymph systems are already giving us fits it can cause us grief.
Really happy to hear there's no cellulitis this morning. It's so nuts, the things we worry about: I whacked my hand chasing a spider, will I end up in the hospital?!
No wonder it's hard for friends and relatives to "get it"!<sigh!>
Elevate, stay hydrated...you sure do know the drill already! Keep us posted.
Hugs, prayers,
Binney -
I am glad you had better advice than I did, Binney.
I never knew that cold could aggravate LE. I've always slapped ice on an injury. Now I'll have to re-think that strategy.
Cookiegal, I hope the swelling is going down.
Take care.

COOKIE- I couldn't agree more about the spider! It's such a shame that because of LE you have to worry about something as innocent as hitting your hand. Good news that there was no cellulitis this morning. Hoping the swelling continues to go down and NO HAND LE!!!!

There are weird grey spiders creeping all over the place at work. See somebody was stealing stuff, so they took away everyones pass keys, so now the door is always proped open with a sledgehammer.
Still a little bit swollen....but definately not cellulitis.
I kind of knew not to do the ice..but I panicked and thought it might help somehow.

I hate spiders. I am sorry you are having problems, I sure hope they go away quickly.
I recently had another round of cellulitus. Thankfully I had antibiotics on had especially since this round went into my arm. Man did that hurt.
I never knew that a bump can cause the cellulitus. I think I know now what started it this time. I bumped my under on a filing cabinet. It start that day. I will have to be careful with my arm.
Hope you are better, cookiegal

I'm with Norma J - I hate spiders!!!! I'm so sorry you're dealing with LE AND spiders. That stinks.
Hang in there, Cookie!

See somebody was stealing stuff, so they took away everyones pass keys, so now the door is always propped open with a sledgehammer.
Well, that's going to be more secure?? Really?? Now, not only can anybody gain access, they also have a handy sledgehammer to break into the lockers too. What birdbrain thought of that one??
Hope your hand is getting better. Any news of the spider's injuries?

Norma June, I hope you're all recovered from the cellulitis. What a long haul you've had.

Cookie, somewhere you asked about washing garments because they get so grubby and don't come clean, yes? I can't remember what thread it was in, so please forgive me for getting off topic here, but in the middle of the night last night it dawned on me no one had ever answered you.
So just a note: sometimes I can get mine clean by soaking them overnight in a bowl with some Ivory Snow and a tablespoon of baking soda (which, one garment maker told me, is "the poor woman's Oxy-clean"). I stir the brew every once in a while. (My daughter always says I'm "making garment stew again"
) Then I dump the water and put them in the washing machine with fresh Ivory Snow on a gentle cycle, in a lingerie bag, with a batch of towels -- and hang them in the house to dry.
Garments are a whole lot of bother

Thanks.... the medi just seemed to get ugly really fast.
