DIM and estrogen test advice needed ASAP
Ladies,
I need little help regarding DIM/estrogen test. I am trying to avoid taking Temox, so I decided to "experiment" with DIM for a while. I talked to my OB-gyn today and she agreed to run any hormone related test for me (since my MO did not, lol) if I let her know what exactly I would like to check on if it comes to benefits of DIM. She never heard of DIM but is willing to go with my request. So my question is: what should I ask her to test precisely? How often should I do that? I am hoping that if I can regulate my estrogen with DIM I could stay away from Temoxifen. I would like the test right know since I started DIM only about a week ago and than maybe in 3-4 months... Does that make sense? I would appreciate some input here from all of you well informed ladies.

Agnieszka,
The test that measures what you want to know is called an estrogen metabolite test. This test measures the ratio of 2-hydroxyestrone to 16 alpha-hydroxyestrone. My "prevent" doc measures this with a blood test.
What DIM does is make sure your estrogen is metabolized down non-carcinogenic pathways. If you would like more info about DIM, you can PM me your email address and I will send some articles about it.
You may also want to request a blood test for estrogen and progesterone. If you are estrogen dominant, you might also want to start taking bio-identical progesterone to balance your hormones.
Best,
Sandie

Hi Sandie:
I was wondering if you could send me the info. you have on D.I.M. I have some info. from Dr. Michael Zeligs. Sounds promising.
I've had a bi-lateral in March. And I've had a hysterectomy, so I do not have ovaries. I was given Arimadex and my stomach was nauscious and I felt ill after just 3 pills. I showed my oncologist my research and he took some notes and will be doing some research of his own. I'm am hoping he will say it's o.k. to take D.I.M. Even if he says he says he can't approve it, I am hoping that he will at least monitor me. Doctor's are so paranoid on saying "yes" to anything that isn't FDA. Is there anything natural the FDA approves? I don't think so.! He's never heard of it. And he questions the "metabolizing" word. Thinking that maybe it could raise estrogen. But I did find some research on D.I.M. that it doesn't raise or lower estrogen.
Thanks.
