Taxotere - blocked tear ducts

Can anyone share with me how long it was post-Taxotere treatments that their eyes stopped running?  (Yes, I know this is the least of my concerns but it is SOOOOO annoying!!)

I had 6 taxotere treatments that finished the end of Sept 2010 The tearing slowed down about two months later but officially did not stop completely until March.  Seemed like a long time of constantly brushing away the tears but it did stop.  I also had the same effect with my nose dripping all the time but that too is now a thing of the past.  Have you finished the treatments or are you still receiving the chemo.  Good luck

You may have blocked tear ducts.  I had  tiny tubes inserted in my tear ducts.  Fixed the problem, but the tubes came out (twice.)  I finally found a new specialist and managed the problem by using eye drops 4-6 times a day.   About three years ago, one of my tear ducts opened up.  The other is still blocked so far as I know.

Regarding how long it too my eyes to stop running--about two years and they only stopped when I had the tubes inserted.  Somehow my eyes then went from running to being extremely dry.

     Good luck.

I had 4 treatments of Taxotere, the last on April 14.  Still dripping tears all over my shirt.  I guess I can look forward to continuing to do that for some time...

I was diagnosed with the same condition last week. This appeared after treatment #4 TCH. Interestingly enough I went to the eye dr  before I started treatment in february. He was expecting me and was ready when I came back with the weepy eyes. He told me it was an inflamation/scaring in the tear ducts. I am on a steroid eye drop for a month to help with the inflamation. After being on the drops for a week the actual tearing has stopped and I now I am just moist on the 5 eyelashes I have left.

I went to the eye doctor yesterday and he prescribed some steroid drops for 2 weeks as well as artificial tears.  Apparently part of the problem is the eyes are dry so extra tears are produced - hence the artificial tears.

I am to take the steroid drops 4 times daily, in between using the artificial tears.  The steroid will hopefully take care of the inflammation - and with a little luck the artificial tears will help stop me leaking from the eyeballs...

After using the steriod drops along with the artificial tears, the tearing situation improved markedly.  However, as soon as I started to taper off using the drops the problem returned.  Keep using the artificial tears...
