I've had a clear nipple discharge for about 2 yrs. and recently I developed a spot or two of blood on my bra.  When I first noticed this discharge, my OB/GYN biopsed the liquid and said it was benign. She also just rebiopsed it and still said it was benign but referred me for digital mammo/ultrasound and breast surgeon appt.  I've had two digital mammographies since and just had once today and FINALLY, they did an ultrasound too.  Now they tell me they see something in the fluid, probably a papilloma and I definitely will need to have it excised to tell for sure what it is.  They also commented that they never mind nipple discharge as long as it isn't clear or blood color. I'VE HAD THIS FOR TWO YEARS AND THEY NEVER DID THE ULTRASOUND TO GET A BETTER LOOK BEHIND THE NIPPLE UNTIL TODAY.  I feel so many feelings, but mostly angry if this turns out to be any type of cancer!!!  I've also been on HRT (Climara patch + Progesterone)  for 9 yrs. and dread the idea of them telling me to go off because every time I try I get horrible hot flashes and cannot sleep and feel very blue.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

    Hi JPRacket-

Unfortunately we see stories over and over again on these boards of women whose symptoms were dismissed by their doctors. We all have to be our own best advocates I guess.

Anyway, I am hoping for benign results for you.  You may want to also consider posting in the "not diagnosed but worried" section of the boards.

    Best wishes!
