blisters popping

Options

New here.  Had last radiation yesterday.  I am blistered between breasts, under my reconstructed breast and have dead skin under the arm.  the blisters i have under the breast just popped and it is so raw.  I layered the silvedene on it but it comes off when my breast touches it.  should i cover it with a non stick bandage?  Tried Tefla pads under my arm but so much for non stick, they took the dead skin right off.  I dont know what to do.  On vicodin, does zip, i am in so much pain and feel sick to my stomach because of this.

any advise?

bstauff: Sounds like you need to call your RO and see if he can order something different for you. Also if you can give that area some air it might help.

I had weepy blistering/raw peeling skin under my breast toward the end of my treatments. For me the key to minimizing the discomfort was to keep the area dry. First I did try the saline bath and gauze given to me by the nurse but I was always fearful of ripping off more skin by having it stick to the gauze. So whenever possible, I just tried letting the area air out, nothing on and no friction. That helped the most.

This too will pass, but it's tough when you are in the midst of it.

Try Xeroform bandages (or something similar). These are the bandages that hospitals use on burn victims and for skin grafts. They are basically gauze soaked in petroleum.  I live in manhattan and I was paying about $2.50 a bandage and I was using a bandage a day and my breast held up really well - I only had some minor blistering. Basically, right after my radiation treatment I would slather my breast with aquafor, put the bandage on and just leave it there the whole day.

I hope you feel better soon.

Your RO should give you some type of burn pads. Mine did. NJ
