The glove that teased me
So I went to the LE fitters shop in NYC to get some extra "baby gauntlets" and my custom glove had just arrived.
It was AMAZING.
It fit my fingers, it was sheer, it almost looked cool in a Michael Jackson sort of way. I was so excited, it was so much better than my grubby beige medi-mess.
BUT....
It had a tight wristband. First, the fitter thought I had maybe swelled in my wrist. So she meausred me and I had actually gone down. So we had to send it back to be re-made.
SAD
I was going to wear it to the Knicks game tomorrow. Spike Lee was gonna want one. I was gonna be asked to join the "city dancers w/LE squad".
(I'm kidding now)
Oh I never thought I could love a compression glove so much. But it has to go back to be remade.
Farewell my love glove.

WHOAH, Cookie...I can tell you really luuuuved that gluuve.
(My fave book of all time is called "A Confederacy of Dunces" and has a character named Jones who chain smokes, wears sunglasses constantly, and says "WHOAH" alot. I am channeling Jones for this thread.)
Have a blast at the Knicks game! And you don't need a glove to be cool, Cookie. You are already way cool.

Cookie, why is there NOT a "city dancers w/LE squad"? If you start one I'll join!
Nevermind, your glove will soon be back, ready to caress your wrist instead of squeezing the life out of it. Let us know when it arrives and we'll all make brownies!
Hugs,

Cookie, I live in Celtics country (my SIL is such a fan he wears his official jersey when he watches) so, I have to say I felt good as Spike Lee left before the game was officially over last night...
But, if he'd seen your glove, he'd have stayed until the buzzer.
All my custom gloves have needed redo's--the first needed FIVE, the most recent one came with a huge wrist, and needed one redo.
Hope the glove comes soon, and you can hang with Spike Lee again.
Hate to be on opposing sides of the NBA with you...But I do love to watch Ray Allen with his compression sleeves...

Cookie, what kind of custom glove did you get that is sheer?
-
y'know it's a company that I have never heard of.
They make sleeves as well, but the fitter says they are not the most effective for everyday. After I get my basic sleeves I want to get one.
Still it's an option for dress-up. She showed my a one piece she made for a lady who had to go to fashion week. It was decent looking.

How do you all keep the beige gloves from getting dis-colored. Is the Medi worse in this regard. I wash it every night and rub the detergent into the fingers.
-
Post a picture when you get it back!
-
I remember they are made in Ohio. It was black and sheer. It really was decent looking.
-
cookie- lots of hugs. hope the sheer glove works for you and solves some of the problems. When are we getting together again. check out thread on get togethers.
-
Cookie, sounds like Farrow, but they're in Texas
Binney uses Gottfried and they seem silky
Kira
-
Kira, does Farrow make custom gloves?
-
Sher, I don't know. I tried one of their gloves--somehow I got a sample, but it's not my usual glove. Barry Creighton would know, he's posted on these boards.

I googled the terms "Ohio," "lymphedema" and "garment" and came up with Torbot compression garments. I've never heard of the brand before. Here is the description from Torbot's website of the custom garments:
Torbot Custom Vascular/Lymphedema are designed specifically to provide compression therapy, conform anatomically, allow freedom of movement while providing comfortable and theraputic compression for the long term management of vascular and lymphedema conditions. The custom garment is made to the exact dimensions of the affected limb and provides accurate and consistent gradient compression to manage the symptoms. Controlled gradient compression for the effective long term management of vascular and lymphedema conditions.
Here's the website: http://www.torbotgarments.com/view/11/
They also make off-the-shelf gloves, but it isn't clear from the description if they are really meant for LE. Here's the URL for the off-the-shelf:

Has anyone used Torbot's compression garments. - KS1

I will ask when I go back to the fitter.
-
Ssounds like Gottfried or Barton-Carey - they're both in Ohio and they both use a light weight, sort of sheer, fabric. Barton Carey offers a ton of colors.

Still waiting for my glove, sleeves, and juxta fit!!!!
