Should I be freak out or not
Well, my youngest 16 year old has since a while some kind of thickness under her armpit.
The pediatrician ordered a MRI last month, and the impression says that she must be seen by a breast center to see what this "mass" is all about.
There is no words of cancer in the report, but given the history of her mother, everything should be ruled out.
There is nothing in the breast tissue, but they dont know what this thickining/mass is .
I am so freaked out, the pediatrician even gave me yesterday her private Cell phone number to inform her personally after the breast ultra sound.
She said just go Tuesday and insist to have her checked.
(BTW, she told me that she had BC long time ago herself., and any thickening worries her.)
Any input..
Best
Carol

Oh Carol, I can imagine how worried you are.
My daughter (aged 7) is going for an U/S of her collarbone area next week, as her pediatrician felt a "thickening" at her last check-up. It of course totally freaked me out, but my rational mind knows it is probably nothing. (he actually thinks it is just cartilage, just wants confirmation) But, yeah, I know how you are feeling.
I would imagine they are just being overly cautious. And I am glad your daughters Dr is following up with it. But remember, most things are not cancer. I am sure there are all sorts of things it could be, most of them harmless. When you have been on the receiving end of bad news yourself, it is so easy to jump to bad conclusions over things.
The fact that she had an MRI and there is no mention of cancer is a good sign. Try not to worry too much, I hope you get some answers soon (good ones!)
Let us know.

Carol,
I agree with Kerry in that she has had the MRI and no mention of cancer was made is a good sign. I cannot imagine going through this worry for my child. I get shaky just thinking about it. It's good that they are being proactive with this.
Big hugs to both you and Kerry! Both your babies will be in my prayers.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear this. I have 2 girls myself and already worry for them and their future with bc and they're only 2 & 4. I can only imagine the fear you have right now but try not to freak until you know for sure what it is. It could be a number of things, my brother had a swelling in his armpit and it was a clogged sweat pore or something. I know it will be hard but you have to stay strong for her as well. After my dx my mom flipped out and I was having to be strong for her and I was the one with bc....it was a very hard place for me. Hugs and prayers going your way & I hope everything turns out ok.

Like Kerry said, most things are not cancer. Sending hugs and prayers to both of you and hoping you both get good news fast!

The breast center phoned after I send a Fax about the MRI, and the Radiologist does not think its urgent, but she will have an Ultra sound in May.
So I will keep you all posted.
Kerry, let me know about your daughter, her Ultra sound.......
I am just so sad that our kids have to go through this about their Mom freaking out.
Sometimes I think maybe its psychological, the fact my daughter has seen me with the breast cancer, and maybe, its something she developed unconscious.
-
Glad to hear they don't think it's urgent, I pray it's nothing. I think it's just what mom's do, we freak out and when you been through what we have it's only normal for our minds to go in the way of cancer for everything. Hugs and prayers going your way, keep us updated.

Just like to let you know that all in fine with my dearest 16 year old.
I was kinda expecting it, but since her pediat. freaked out, i got scared too.
Its just a bit of a thickening of tissue/muscle.
Thats all.
Have a great week...........
-
Well Hallelujah to this good news!
-
It sounds like you have an excellent healthcare team! Praying for b9 results for your daughter! I think it's most likely not cancer, but it's a great thing u r getting it checked! Maybe it's fat necrosis?
-
Great news! So happy for you and her.

Great news Carol!
My daughter had her U/S a week or so ago too, and it was normal, nothing there. So cause for relief all around.
