Medical ID

I need to get a Med ID for another reason and wondered if I should and how I should list that No Blood Pressure or Injections should be done on my right arm. Anyone else need to do this?

I don't wear a med. I.D. When I first got diagnosed with LE, I ordered one and wore it faithfully, but I quit...if I'm unconscious, the least of my worries is getting an iv in my affected arm. Just my opinion. I have another medical condition as well, but I just don't wear one. I don't like the way they look and I just don't see that it's going to make that much difference.
I should probably wear one because of my asthma, but I don't do that either.
I guess I'm just a rebel!!!! -
Wow, JB, what a great idea to make your own assorted bands - and it sounds really pretty too!
sdinva, there are some suggestions for bracelets on the bottom of this page:
http://www.stepup-speakout.org/Patient_education_lymphedema.htmI avoid using the word "lymphedema" on my alert jewelry because so many medical personnel think they know all about lymphedema and that it's a non-issue, so they're not likely to avoid using my arms. Instead, mine says: "No needles, no BP, either arm." (My lymphedema is bilateral, so I wear a necklace instead of a bracelet.) There are other medical reasons to avoid arms besides lymphedema that medical folks are more likely to be careful of, so I don't want to give them any leeway for deciding for themselves how important my lymphedema is.
Before I developed lymphedema, and when I had it only in one arm, I always wore my bracelet to remind ME not to offer the wrong arm.
Now it's so ingrained I snarl immedately if anyone even looks at my arm when they have a needle or BP cuff in their hand. (I never seem to have an ink pen handy to poke their eyes out like Suzy does.
So much for "Be prepared"!)
Be well!

Thought i would share. I got mine a couple of years ago from www.fiddleDeeids.com
It is a neat system because you can get interchangeable bracelets to swap out your look. I end up wearing a leather cord version because I can keep it on even in the shower. But, I do have a nice girly beaded one I can swap out if I want to dress it up. Mine says - lymphedema alert, no bp, no needles, no iv, both arms. On the front it has the universal medical emblem and then my initials in a beautiful script.
