Hoping someone can help me find a lymphadema therapist in the Idaho Falls, Id area or in Jackson, Wy (or anywhere in the general vicinity).  My mom has chronic lymphadema in her R arm and recently moved to ID and hasn't been able to find any type of lymphadema therapy.  Just thought I'd check with you ladies and see if anyone can help.Smile

Thanks

Here is the website for certified lymph therapists in ID, it looks like they are mostly in the Boise area, but you might be able to call one and they might be able to get you in touch with someone closer to your mother, if not it might be worth the trip to Boise - I didn't see any in Wyoming - http://www.clt-lana.org/therapists/default.asp?SearchType=State&Key=ID

Runner, you can also check out the links at the Therapist Locator:
    http://www.mylymphedema.com/therapist.htm

I checked Klose, and they list only therapists in the Boise area in ID and Laramie in WY (which is not a bit handy) The Vodder link shows no therapists in either state. In order to check the Academy of Lymphatic Studies and Norton School you need to enter her zip code.

You might try calling her local oncologists and ask where they send their patients for lymphedema treatment, but then do call the therapists and check out their training and protocols. Here's information about choosing a therapist:

Beautiful country! Hope she's enjoying it!

    Be well,

    runnermama,

Looks like your choices for treatment for your mother are either going to be in Salt Lake or Boise.  I have been seeing Sonja Maul at St. Luke's Idaho Elks Rehab Hospital in Boise since 2009 and would highly recommend her.  Her phone number is 208-489-4040.  She has many years experience in treating LE and is LANA certified.  I live about 150 miles from Boise, so sometimes spend the night and have found hotels that offer a "hospital rate" which helps.  Please feel free to PM me if you would like more info.

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions.  You guys are awesome!  Boise is a few hours away, but if they have someone qualified, it would definately be worth it.  I'll let her know about the hospital rates too.  Thanks again!!

    runnermama,

I am a certified lymphedema therapist practicing in both Driggs, ID and Jackson, WY. I was trained in Milwaukee and have been practicing under the Vodder and Casely-Smith methods for 8 years. I'd be happy to work with your mother. My work number is 208-354-6333 (High Peaks Physical Therapy located in Driggs, ID - this is my primary workplace, but I do contract in Jackson as well). I'm quite sure there is a lymphedema therapist in Idaho Falls as well, but I haven't had any contact with anybody over there. I would start with checking with her oncologist for a referral (if they are in the IF area). Good luck!

Heather, thank you. How's the patient with the garment allergies? Have you made any discoveries for resolving that problem?

    Binney,

She is still bandaging during the day and using Tensogrip (elastic tubular bandage - and this doesn't cause any allergic reaction) at night instead of a sleeve, and keeping up with her exercises and self massage. She's been able to manage this well. But I have directed her to this forum to look at other suggestions. Thanks for thinking of us!

    Heather
