I am not yet diagnosed with cancer BUT am going in to have a large lump removed and biopsied on Wednesday.  The lump is growing fast with a noticiable change from the initial ultrasound a month ago until yesterday.  I have a shooting pain and general achiness in my breast, and pain in my shoulder and upper back...same side.  It a LARGE lump normal with IBC?  Breast Surgeon said it is either fibrocystic changes or cancer...I am so scared right now.  Can you have IBC without changes to the outside of the breast?

NJDevChick, until another member comes along to give you more information from their own experiences, you'll find more about IBC symptoms, diagnosis and staging, treatments and follow-up care here.

I started out with a sore spot under my right arm.  It felt like a stone bruise, so I thought I had hit myself.  It did not go away for 2-3 months.  Then I got a gumball size ball on the right side of my breast, right above the sore spot, this grew very, very rapidly to a baseball size tumor.  During the 3 weeks it grew, my nipple also collapsed, which I have read is a very sure sign of IBC.  I also developed a light red rash from the original sore spot, along the bottom of my right breast.  I had made an appointment with an OB/GYN , but as I was a new patient - we had recently moved- it took 6 weeks to see him.  He immediately sent me for  a mammogram and sonogram.  I had a biopsy the following morning.   I hope this helps.  I will be praying for you.
