I have heard of Dr. Marga's surgical treatment for lymphadema, but I just came upon a video where she discusses vascularized lymph node transfer in depth.

hmmm... Binney - it was posted from Kenya. Well now there's a surprise (NOT) since that is one of the countries that has a high incidence of scamming people that are selling things online - by sending fake checks for too much money, then asking you to refund the difference. I had a friend that got scammed that way... although I asked her WHY in the world she would ever send money back to someone before she made sure the check cleared... but herein lies another story...Wink

I had an axillary dissection on one side with my bilateral mastectomy. Now I notice my armpit and the flap under my upper arm (you know that wobble area all women hate) are painful all the time. They aren't swollen but just constantly feeling like their chaffed or sunburned like. Could this be early lymphedema signs?   What is quick home remedy for relief if so?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Best, Kat

    Hi, Kat,

How rotten that you have to worry about this!Tongue out I'm so sorry.

Couple of thoughts. First, yeah, it could be an early sign of lymphedema, in which case you'd want to get a referral from any doctor on your team to a well-trained lymphedema therapist for evaluation and some risk-reduction tips. Here's how to find a well-qualified one near you:

Another possibility is Axillary Web Syndrome, or cording. A good lymphedema therapist would be able to treat that as well.

Check in with one of your doctors on this, and do let us know how you're doing.

    Gentle hugs,
    Binney

Katarina- I had 6 nodes removed and I got the same feeling. I asked a friend that had 13 nodes removed and she said it doesnt go away. But she said if you run your hand lightly over it, it would help. It does help for a minute. I also got like a sticking feeling. The hospital I'm at actually has a lymphedema class twice a month. Think this is something I will be joining soon.
