Gauntlet lengths?

Anyone familiar with gauntlet lengths and how different brands compare?  I just purchased a Juzo Soft gauntlet and was surprised how short it is on my hand......doesn't come anywhere near to covering my knuckles.  It should cover the knuckles, right?  This seems to be another garment cut straight across rather than being curved to fit the hand shape.  Are all gauntlets like that?

Does your LE therapist have a recommendation for length?  Mine was very specific -- i need it down to the nail beds.

Yes, that's where I had been wearing gloves - to the nail bed.  But since I've had no swelling for quite awhile and have often gone without daytime compression (unless I'm doing something repititive or more stenuous), my therapist agreed that I could try a gauntlet.  The Juzo Soft gauntlet is the first one I've ever seen or tried.

Sher - I've tried several gauntlets and all come about to the knuckles at the base of my fingers, in a straight line.  I don't know of any gauntlet that provides finger coverge. ?  There is more variation in wrist coverage than hand/finger coverage.  I find the Juszos rather skimpy at both ends and I don't like the seams in the web.  I also find Lymphedivas skimpy with especially large (painful) seams.  I have better luck with Medi: ugly but fits well, has flat seams at side of thumb (instead of web), sturdy.  Jobst also makes a gauntlet I like: very soft fabric, covers base knuckles (tho. I'm not sure it provides significant compression there), comfortable thumb without web seams, (inconsistent sizing.)  Like everything w LE - it's about finding what works for you - more or less.

Thanks for talking about this.  I think the gauntlet coverage of the wrist is short for the juzo.  If it went up higher over the sleeve it might wrinkle less.  Whenever I take mine off I have lines from the wrinkles on my hand and wrist.

When I look at my hand, especially my palm, there is a definite curve/slant where my hand meets my fingers.  In supposing a gauntlet should cover that area, it would seem to me that it be shaped to the hand - otherwise the gauntlet would come up over some fingers and not come close enough to other fingers, exposing part of the palm or knuckles.  That's what happens with the Juzo Soft on my hand - it comes up over the bottom of my little finger, but then gaps and doesn't cover the rest of my hand properly.  And I agree Omaz, the wrist in the Juzo gauntlet is also very short, yet they do manage to make the thumb long for some odd reason!

I've never really looked into gauntlets before as initial swelling was on the top of my hand and then moved into my fingers, so I needed full gloves.  But now it would be really nice to sometimes just wear a gauntlet and have totally free fingers!  Maybe I'm way off base here - I know from reading other posts that sleeves should be worn with a gauntlet (or glove), but maybe once you've had swelling in your hand and fingers a gauntlet as prevention is never useful?

Thanks SleeveNinja.......I'll look into the Jobst gauntlet.  My problem with checking this stuff out is that I have to order it from the internet and return if it doesn't work for me.  There is only one supplier near me and they aren't always very helpful.

    Do they make custom gauntlets?
