What does hip met feel like?

I've been experiencing a pain in my hip for a few weeks now that doesn't seem to be getting better or worse. Of course you know where my mind goes-straight to the possibility of bone mets. But it doesn't feel like it's the bone that is hurting. Feels more like a bruise. Can bone mets feel like a bruise? It doesn't hurt all the time-just when I put pressure on it. Don't want to go running to the doctor if i simply hurt myself (which is a real possibility because i'm clumsy as all get out!) Any advice.

Hi Mouse,  good question.  I don't know what bone mets feel like - but I have been having that same feeling in my hip for months now - it feels bruised and most times I can't lay on that side.  My doc sent me for xrays and a nuclear bone scan and told me all is well - except for a little arthritis.  Hope you find out the same thing - sad, huh, we hope to have arthritis!  Life is strange.

Thanks J9W...reminds me to keep things in perspective. Ah...shoot...do I need to add arthritis to the list?  LOL

Thanks for the input guys...think I'll keep an eye on it for the next couple of weeks and go to doc if it doesn't get better. Hope you are both doing well.

Nerida, do you have mets in both hips? I've been having pain in my right hip much like you described. On occasion I have the same pain in my left hip. I'm just wondering if it could be mets. any additional info on how bone mets feel would be appreciated. Thanks!

My bone mets feel differently, depending on where they are.  In my spine it feels more like achy muscles in my back.  I'm told this is because the muscles are compensating for the weakened vertebrae.  In my hips the pain is sharper, not dull aches.  And the pain is pretty well constant, it doesn't come and go.  It only subsides with pain killers.  Hope this helps.
