Found Lump...Waiting on biopsy results.
Since my wife is a cancer patient I have become aware of cancer symptoms. For the last month I have noticed an odd itch in my chest around my left nipple. This week I was absentmindedly scratching at it and felt a lump beneat my nipple. I called my doctor and was able to get a walk in appointment with one of the partners. At first he couldn't find the lump but I put his finget on it and he definitely felt it. He gave me the option of a scan, or just waiting it out for a few months since he didn't think it was anything. I opted for a scan. Better safe than sorry. I was scanned and biopsied yesterday by my wife's breast specialist who thinks it is nothing, and am waiting on the results. I am not freaking out because all medical personel seemed confident that it was just an errant fat blob. But I posted to encourage other men to get checked if they find anything. I was mildly worried that I would get there and the doc would tell me I imagined it all. I was never worried about having a "woman's disese". It doesn't strike me as womanly if it can kill you.

Hi PizzaDad...
I recognized your name from the Stage IV forum. You are very wise to get the lump checked out, and also for posting this for the guys. My dad died from male breast cancer in 1997. He had what he thought was irritation from the car seat belt on his left breast. The tumor finally broke through the skin, and he went to the doctor. I don't know if he would have gone if not for the bleeding. Male breast cancer is rare (2% or 3% if I remember correctly) , but it's important to get the word out. As you said, men view it as a woman's disease and maybe feel embarrassed to report it. Don't take any chances, guys! It's your life we're talking about.
I will hope for a clean scan for you, PizzaDad. You are dealing with quite enough right now. My very best to both you and your wife...
Rose.

Great post...I hope and pray that it is a fatty blob! You are so thoughtful to post this...more for awareness...but please let us know what you find out.

Pizza dad - My husband went through exactly this several years ago. I was being treated for breast cancer when he found a rather sizable lump in his right breast. We made an appointment with my breast surgeon, who was able to do a sonogram on it and assure him that it was indeed an errant fat blob, lol. I also had an EFB on my back...I think these are unfortunately one of those things that happen as we get older (I'm 40, he's 39, for the record
). I hope your turns out to be the same.
Best wishes~~ Jennifer

I recieved the call Friday morning from the surgeon. The biopsy showed benign. I am grateful for this news. But I won't hesitate to go back and get something checked out if I find anything else.
Thanks for the prayers and well wishes.
