PET Scan

I had a PET scan done on Friday.  This afternoon I called the onc's office just to make sure the scan was fine.  The nurse said that the dr. is NOT concerned but a small spot showed up on my spine.  Since the radiologist recommended it, they are sending me for a bone scan on April 19.  This is my first experience with a PET scan.  Can something light up that is nothing?  The nurse emphasized that the oncologist is NOT concerned.  This is just another hoop for me to jump through, right?

    Hi Susan,

Based on my experience, yes, some B9 things light up on PET scans. Don't know the exact percentage but there seems to be a lot of false positives with PET scans. I know it's hard but please try not to worry too much. It's a good thing that your medical team is very proactive. Hang in there.

Thanks American.  I appreciate your thoughts.  I finished chemo three weeks ago today and I know this has to be nothing!
