Lumpectomy re-excision with close margins

I was diagnosed with DCIS on 2/08/11 after mammogram, diagnostic mammogram, ultrasound and finally a biopsy.  I have grade 3 comedo type with necrosis, ER-/PR-; my surgeon tells me this high grade DCIS is what is commonly seen in younger women with this diagnosis (I am 42).  I had a lumpectomy on 3/22/11 with a positive margin, re-excision on 3/30/11 with a close margin 0.5mm and the pathology report indicated that the DCIS was "skipping" because there was a 1mm clear margin between the DCIS cells in the tissue taken during re-excision.  I have an appointment on Monday with my surgeon to discuss further treatment.  I believe my odds of a recurrence are pretty high if I just get radiation, and I think she will suggest a mastectomy.  I would probably opt for a BMX with reconstruction. I am wondering about the surgery itself and the recovery period. 

 I would like to wait until June because I will have 6 weeks off work for summer break, will this be long enough?  I also have a 16 month old daughter and I worry about being able to take care of her after surgery; I have a great support system and lots of friends and family willing to help, but I want to care for her as much as I can.
