Well I am back to see Dr. Francis on Monday.

I am a little nervous about what she will say. All in all my measurements are down about 1.5 CM.

I am really worried she will be grumpy that I

A. Flunked out of bandges after 23 hours

B. Only lost a few pounds since January (maybe 5 ish)

My husband is going with me for moral support. He actually took the day off from work, and it is the day before our 3rd anniversary. He is pretty chubby so he said I will look really skinny next to him.

At some point I could take a week off from work and try getting bandaged somewhere else? Maybe in NYC?

(Though to be honest I was so freaked out by the bandages I ate two cupcakes and a milkshake)

Wish me luck!

Cookie, your husband is a complete sweetheart! Here's what I think, for what it's worth: too bad if she's grumpy---you are very, very compliant and you are doing the best you can. If your LE isn't cured, it's because unfortunately, there is no cure and you're doing the best you can.

Behavioral change is extremely tough: doctors prescribe it, and then patients are left to struggle with it. I heard a great lecture from a psychiatrist recently about this: she said "Think of something you've been meaning to change. Okay, now I won't let you out of this stuffy auditorium until you firmly commit to it." and the universal response was fear, resistance and embarrassment. You don't impose change (weight loss) on patients, you work with them.

I'd suggest reframing it into the list of accomplishments since your last visit: you tried wrapping, you're working on diet, you're very compliant with your LE care--you're a super star patient.

Now what other positive suggestions does she have for you and your amazingly kind husband.

    Your fan

    Kira

thanks...she was fine really...it was reading her report that psyched me out. I'm glad I tried bandaging for the day, if I had thought it would work I would somehow have found at least a week to do it.

It's funny....in one way I am lucky my LE is just not that bad yet, but it also makes me feel more frustrated that I have do so much to keep it that way.

Part of me just misses denial.

I see my oncologist the next day, he is VERY opinionated about everything, (he is kind of a mad genius), If anyone has any original ideas it will be him.

    Thanks for the support!!!!!!
