Lover: away from home at the moment, but surrounded by people with gobs of smartphones and cameras and bleep. Let me see what I can come up with--how many drinks must I have had before I attempt the piriformis stretches?
-
-
Loverly, Ugh you never read my last posts about piriformis or you slid through the info. The info I wrote about was specific to piriformis. Low back-lumbar and sacroiliac(SI) joint exercises are NOT the stretch for the priformis. Totally different stretch. Totally different anatomy.
-
Uh oh I am in trouble!?Yes, Mam, I did read your last post. I have pain on both the lumbar and right butt. Doc gave me stretch exercise for both lower back and Maximus Gluteus. I tried the piriformis stretch you suggested and it felt good. Sorry I was not clear
-
Now, if you did it in one position. Move the leg gently from the the first position to a few degrees to the further right and hold, then release, Think of the clock. When you first brought the knee up--what position on the clock was it? Right leg---move from the 11'o'clock position , to 12, to 1, to 2, 3, hold and release at each position till you feel it releasing. Be back in a min ute. Someone has a problem

Page turned Phooey.Used to hate that when I'd be here in the middle of the night and the page turned. Wouldn't be thinking that. Would be sitting here w a t c h i n g the s c r e e n. No where to go or run too. W at c h I n g the s c r e e n.
Loverly, going to post this to see if you are still here
Okay you are gone. Have to watch for the other problem . You did say it felt better. That's what's beautiful about this stretch. If the piriformis is the problem, the stretch will help. Rarely, it doesn't. Very different that lumbar and SI joint. They are not so easy.

Thank you Ms Sas!!!! Very much appreciated. Better, still a little kink, but much better. Bedtime...work tomorrow. You ought to go to bed too. Love Ya. Good night
-
Yes Loverly! Ha! Also Pedro and his cactus in the back garden by St. Francis...When Theresa and Eddie had to move from their home to Assisted Living, she asked if I wanted the statues they had brought back from Santa Fe.... Of course I couldn't resist...
I've moved a few things around since this picture... The little deer were given to me by the girls.... That Budha was sitting out back of a restaurant, next to their dumpster one time....
Well, the girls saw THIS, and decided they were throwing it away.... So somehow, they lifted it into their car, and brought it back to ME! I first painted it bright yellow, and it sat under our front tree, then under our front window, and NOW it is staying in our side garden, where he will STAY...Ha!
-
Wait! What are you guys talking about? Is this what you mean?
http://www.spine-health.com/video/sciatica-exercis...
Because many years ago, I had 2 herniated disks.... Went through Physical Therapy for months... 2 600mg of Ibuprofen every 4 hours for MORE months...then a Chiropractor.... Damn near killed me... Muscle spasms were un-believable... Could hardly walk... Pain so bad going down my left leg..
I didn't think I could WAIT for surgery! Got that bad... Either someone fixed my back, or I don't know what I would do...
Had a double-laminectomy.... Woke up from surgery, and THAT PAIN FROM SCIATICA WAS GONE!!! I know what they did, and no-other way would have fixed it. I tried all the exercises, and with a gear-shift knob, even tried the massaging... not to mention heat...
Physical therapy and traction after the surgery put me right back in shape...No problems since I forget when that was!
Queenly.... You can't DRINK enough to get you over that pain....Ha! But I didn't try it....... Might have worked? Us girls do NOT like pain......
Loverly, I remember taking my first Daughter up to the Cemetery to learn how to drive... Perfect......! No-one there, little winding roads... No-one to hear me screaming........
-
Loveroflife- I agree about the 7 weeks of stress. Not been an easy summer in many respects. It other ways, it has been awesome. We take the good with the bad!

Chevy, beautiful yard
Lovely, I have done sas's exercises....also I put a tennis ball there while lying on the floor. It's like acupressure. Really works for me with any tight spots. Easy to find. Move your thumb around your butt while applying pressure. You will know when you find it...lol
Have a good day all
I am going in to have my pessary changed. Think I need a bigger one to keep it horizontal.
And mom goes for a 3 hour test today for her memory. Hope she is not to sad after. I spend 2 days a week with her, and we are having much fun. We have had an on and off relationship, but now she is very happy and very nice. So we are having a good time. Very much enjoying this time together. Brother, not do much, but everything can't be perfect. Just so cool to be having fun with mom. Hope she has something that is treatable. I know with some types of memory loss they have pills to help.
Poor little doggy has the big d all night. Even at almost 15, she wakes me up to go. Such a good girl.
-
Loverly, idk about sweeter, just way different than any commercial cookie I've snarfed.
-
The nerves at each level will cause pain in a very specific pattern (dermatone plane). Chevy your pain was caused by an impingement (pinching) in the lumbar. That is called the low back. Piriformis is an impingement at a lower area at the pelvic level. Separate distinct areas There is a third area that the nerve can be pinched , at the sacroiliac joint. Actually, the worst to fix.
-
Chevy The video wouldn't load. the description below the video box is right. Too bad... Did it load for you?
-
only for two days Rose but we'll take anything we can get!
-
Chevy: an ocean of vodka could not wash away all the inflammation! (mine resulted from a birth defect that had become untenable: L5 vertebra slipped squashing the nerve underneath. And stenosis. All gone now. And nothing but surgery would have done the trick.)
-
Not all body parts are the same, diagnosed the same, treated the same. The priformis is not the lumbar. It's approximately a hands length away from the lumbar. Compression of the sciatic nerve by the priformis muscle has a different intervention plan than the lumbar.
-
OMG SAS! What an amazing looking cake. Chevy, your garden is beautiful. I sort of took your advice and jumped to the end. Gosh there will be so much to catch up on. Of course I will let you all know what Saturday's MRI says.

Who would believe its Aug 20th in North Texas. Temp is 78 degrees. We didn't get that much rain but I'll take the lower temps. Off/on chance of rain the next week-10 days. Sassy, Spookie, Frey - I hear there may be 2 more systems brewing out beyond Danny that are of more importance. Sure praying you West Coasters get relief soon.
Ah Wren - about the car key. I did that for ages too with my old car. DH was/is now 45 minutes away. I did manage years ago somehow to not get my house key, can't even remember why now. Neighbors took me in until DH got home. Esp. careful with truck key when I went off to OK or another goat show. DH's old truck which was my goat hauler had a cranky passenger door. Sometimes the lock wouldn't pop up all the way and would lock again when shut. I always kept a spare key buried in some box of goat supplies. HaHa I just had to get up to look at my car. The only one we've had with automatic locks. Do they all have key access as well? Mine does, not sure if that's usual.
Oh Chevster - love the blue Buddah - had to go back 2 pages to find it again.
Today ended up being paperwork day. Bank, insurance, flex, dental - all needed looking at. Stymied by DH's dental costs. Not sure where she's getting her bookkeeping but at the moment it's in our favor - not by any great amount but hey. Hoping this tooth is gonna hold. I'm the one on all the meds and it's his teeth falling apart. And even though I moved around forever we basically were raised in very similar climates. My DM didn't much like milk but DB and I sure had our share. Plus my DM was a rebel and breastfed us in the 1950s. Pretty sure his DM didn't.
-
Met my first BCO sister today in person! Someone I connected with here on the site a few months ago and we discovered quickly some similarities, including the exact same medical team. We had a great visit today for several hours. For those of you who have connected in person, you know how nice it is to talk face to face for a change!
If any of you have the chance to meet any of the lovely ladies here in person, do it!
-
Yes, the blue Buddha! I sprayed him with 18c gold first, then painted him blue.... A red dot on his forehead, and gold sparkle his jeweled "turban"?? I think his hand positions mean "meditation"....
The little Blue-Bird is for "our" Blue-bird that used to be with us on this thread.....
-
Yup I still have my blue bird flag out by the front walkway.
-
xoxoxo
-
DD and I went to see Ricky and the Flash! Great Rockin' movie! A little family dynamics, but once you get past THAT, the music was GREAT!
Rick Springfield looks..... VERY good...Ha!
-
Bluebird
Sorry had a duh moment. I put the bluebird in the topic box. It's still there,
Chevy, I looked and looked at two photos a go and could see the blue Buddha. The red dot. Jeff Dunham's Wakter was very politically incorrect when he asked "What is with that red dot? Does that mean you are here?"
Lilg, thanks on the update. They had minimum news on it earlier. This is really hurricane season. From now till Nov. we will be on watch. I just don't want to stock up again. Maybe a ministock.
-
Jazzy - hmmm. Where's the drink recipe? Time for some adult libations.
Good grief Chevy. He does look good. He comes and goes on General Hospital. "Father" of one of the current characters. Looks better than on TV.
-
Chevy was it a sneak preview you went too? The trailer said it wasn't out till August 27th. My computer says it's the 20th? Streep is so versatile. Playing aa guitar and acting like a rocker...
-
I had a Side Car when we went out last week. Never had one. The name just popped into my head. Better than a margarita kinda.
Jazzy, yes, where's that drink recipe or did you share it already?
-
Oh sorry, I forgot to post this. I hope this does not offend anyone but thought it was hilarious.
I had a rough week with some folks and when I saw this, I just laughed and laughed.
-
Looks like you would want to swim in it. Refreshing
