INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Littlegoats ARB angiotense II and renin blocker. Just guessing that UACR indicates kidney damage. Both(albumin and creatinine) can independently, would seem that a ratio between the two could have an association.
Mommy, hope today is a good day. Do they feel different? My TE felt like it cut into my left shoulder/axilla area. Very nice when it was removed.
Blondie, brownies and milk---went searching for chocolate. Found some in the baking container. Chocolate chips Hmmmmmm.
Susan, Chevy nailed it re: the mother --brother scenario. Not nice.
Off to Gyn appt.
-
Its only sore across the incision area but its much better than the BMX or the TE surgery. Taking tylenol for it. Also have a sore throat from the breathing tube but that is minor
-
Apologies Susan. Rose colored glasses remark applied to your mom (well maybe not considering your desc. above). I have much the same. Have not talked to my mother's only sibling since my mom passed away 12 years ago and don't ever intend to. She is exactly the manipulative person your mom is and oddly enough has a son who is exactly like your brother. They could be twins - loner, happy in mom's home, college educated. No clue what will happen to him when she passes.
And you are right. You can't change them. I know most everyone on here knows the old adage psychiatric or psychological origin. You cannot change anyone else's behavior. You can only change the way you respond to it. Big hugs.
Sorry about Lowe's and your cabinet. I've really had good luck with them in the past. Prayers that your cabinet arrives soonest.
Sassy - I always have chocolate hidden somewhere. It's like a place of safety.
Off to program my new weather radio.
-
Rosevalley,
I keep thinking about the new thread member that got prickly with Me when I used the word sorry in a supportive private post. I had the best of intentions, but overtime have come to realize that maybe the new thread member felt the word sorry as doom and gloom.
*Good Afternoon Owlettes*

-
Sas, read that again. My bp is fine. Shush
-
for you chocolate lovers..have you ever done cookie in a mug...Google it. Chocolate chip cookie in a mug. You microwave it. Done in two minutes. I add way more chocolate chips and make it real gooey.
Luvmygoats....ohhhhhh my gosh, no apologies. Ever needed. Didn't take that in any bad way. Just as you said, we all know the scenarios, we can't change it, no glasses needed, unless there is alcohol in them

-
Teka!!!!!! Little honey.... pay no attention to anyone who becomes offended by the word "sorry"..... That word means a lot to me.... And it lets the person you are talking to, know you empathize with him/her, that you care, and that you are WITH them in your feelings.... So it is a "good" word....
So I'm sorry you are sorry...... about something.....whatEVER! Hah!
Also.... Susan, and Littlegoats...... just don't worry about anything your Mother does or says.... she isn't worth the time.... You knew what she was like with YOUR Daughter..... and she is the same way with you.... manipulative....
Some women are just made out of pretzels, and cracketrs, and weeds..... Other women who are caring, and supportive are made out of chocolate covered raisins, and peanut-butter & jelly, and love everyone.... You can trust them....
We don't need toxic people in our lives, even if they ARE "family".... Sometimes family can make you feel little, and guilty, and not worth a tinkers-darn... But as adults we can choose who to spend our time with, and who to call or talk to..... And unless they want to change their ways, you don't have to feel guilty about not wanting anything to do with them. We don't OWE them anything.....
-
Or coffee Susan lol. Or hot chocolate or chai tea. I amassed the best collection of hot chocolate winter b4 last. Just now getting thru the remainders of it.
Speaking of alcohol - I found the cutest silicone owl ice cube molds at one of those super gigantic liquor stores. DH thinks I'm crazy.

New weather radio is programmed. I may need to change my undies if an alert goes off. Not sure if I get a pleasant voice (what I programmed for) or a very ugly tone (the test tone). It's right here beside me so hopefully I will get one during daylight hours. My very ancient one has just about quit receiving and doesn't have anything fancy. Turn it on and listen. This one is programmable for the counties around me.
I have a question???? Anyone on here believe in using local honey for allergies? I hope it works but even if it doesn't this is the yummiest stuff ever I found and I'm not a lover of honey usually. Being southern I like sorghum syrup and this stuff tastes close to that, at least on biscuits.

pretzels, crackers and weeds....never heard that...did you make that up? Is that a chevism? Lo
-
and really chevy...no comment on no pole in my new bedroom? That was a perfect set up for you,,lol
-
To all- I guess I should have shelved my opinions on "sorry." I feel in my life it is used as a shield for real empathy and deflects a truthful response - kind of like a canned acknowledgement of suffering but really empty and meaningless. The same way unengaged parents will acknowledge a whinning child wanting to show them something- "oh nice honey," while still talking on their cell phones not at all caring interested or engaged. My husband in particular throws the word around like most folks use salt on their food... oh "sorry.." "sorry.." I would rather hear silence then something that means zip. But the word is popular and will be used whether i like it or not. Glad some of you really mean it when you tell someone you are sorry.
I won't be talking much because my entire bottom lip is covered in ulcers.. WTH? Owie... little ones all over. Hate this. Afinitor caused mouth ulcers but I quit that a year ago. oh well. I haven't taken any NSAIDS either.. hmm.
Susan- I pretty much have given up on my family. I figured I shared way too much. So I edited!
See Blondie it's not just your twins. There is "fun" in every family.
-
rose. About mouth ulcers...I had a bad time on that drug too. Couldn't talk...prob made some people happy. I was told by a friend to wet a septic stick and coat the sores with that. Read up on it, not to be used internally well, I was so uncomfy, I went for it anyway....got stage four, what am I worried about...lol. It really worked, and that was 3 years ago when it first got approved . And I have lived through the septic stick.....yeah
Good luck
-
OMD Susan! I thought you said septic tank! Eeeeks! Are those the same thing as canker sores, or fever blisters? Or Herpe's? See, I know those names, but don't know the difference.... Someone told my Daughter to eat a CAN of black olives, to heal her fever blisters.... She DID it, but didn't notice any difference.... those will go away by themselves anyway.... So I am of no help on THAT problem....
Yes.... I made that up.... But even In-laws are like weeds.... they show up everywhere, even when not invited.... and they are just not useful.... My MIL lived close to us, and never even asked our little girls if they would like to go for a walk, or to the park, or just ANYwhere! She was a selfish self-centered woman.... So they didn't really get to know her as "Grandma".... Only when we all got together.....
A little girl used to come here before and after school....Her Parents just couldn't be bothered with her.... I even did their ironing.... Both Parents worked... She hasn't talked to her Mother in 6 years.... She called her on Easter, just because she thought she should.... She then asked her Uncle if she mentioned talking to her on Easter..... Her Mother said..... "I can't recall".... Such a bitch....
That woman never even asked "Lesa" how HER kids were, her life, or her husband! Lesa used to talk to me about her child-hood.... about how she wasn't allowed to leave her room.... So when she came here, we were "like a real family" to her....
She is coming over next Monday.... driving from Ft. Collins, to spend some time with me for hugs and kisses, she says.... So see? She doesn't have to be in her Mother's life....
Rosie..... I talk to my closest Daughter 2 times a day.... But Orlando Daughter, about once a week.... along with the Grand-sons.... Going tomorrow with Janie..... she wants to pay for her cremation.... I'll just surprise her, and write out a check for that.... It's just nice to be able to help them out, because years ago, it wasn't that way at all....
We used to WALK to the park, because we only had one car.... And stop at the soda-fountain, and get a chocolate coke, to drink with the sandwiches I made for our picnic!
-
We just slipped right by page 800 lickety split
Chevy I saw that septic and thought tank too.
Spookie Whaate? Reread about the 3 drug interaction and 4 potentials? ......or shush?..........guessing you meant shush.
Rosie & Susan. DH's family was bad too. Only two could be bothered to come to his funeral. None of the others even could make a phone call. Hateful people.
This doc visit today wasn't so expensive-------only one thrift store. Nap time
-
Chevy- Thank goodness you were there for Lesa! Probably changed the entire way her life worked out. Someone cared and showed her she was special. Some people shouldn't be parents. It's hard to be a parent, really hard sometimes. I am glad you get along with your daughters. If I called my Mom twice a week she wouldn't remember the first time! Ha! She didn't use to be this way, sad really. We used to talk but once my brothers moved in 6 years ago that was over. She just never could be bothered with Grandkids. She was always kind of selfish. People are what they are.
My 2 cousins spend an enormous amount of their time bitching to my Aunt about work at the ER and Hospital. I didn't do that. When I left the hospital... I LEFT! I didn't want to talk anymore about it or relive it.. the shift was happily DONE. Oh.. my intestines are in an upheaval today... along with my sore mouth. I am going to go...no errands today. stuck near a bathroom. Chit... ugh.. life in Cancerland your body is a friend and foe!

A big giraffe hug Rosie. -

I guess it's just "normal"..... I mean losing "touch" with your kids, for some reason.... A couple of my gal friends, hardly talk to their Daughter's. I mean one hasn't in over 30 years.... She says she "doesn't know why"..... but something happened.... between both of them....
Another one is very over-bearing, rigid and a PITA, so her Daughter's and not to mention her EX, don't spend much time with her....
She and her Husbanded divorced YEARS ago! I introduced them! I went to school with Bob... he was our neighbor, and we always played together.... We used to walk to grade-school together, and I would kick his ankles..... and I DON'T know why! Probably because I could.... I must have been a brat!
But I introduced them when we were in High School.... They got married, and I was the maid-of-honor.... she says...(she has pictures).... It's one of those things that I have no memory of.... But she would make 1 pound of Hamburger last a week! For their family of 4!
She would not ever budge from her opinions, her thoughts, or what she wanted.... So they divorced, and she HATES him! Will go no-where when he is supposed to be around.... That much hatred must be hard to deal with.....
So I lost him as a friend.... used to talk to "them".... but can't anymore... not even email..... Afraid she would find out, because he has their youngest Daughter living with him..... still.
ANYway.... she and I still email..... but that's about it....
Funny the things you think about when talking about something else......
Rosie, Lesa is so "normal".... when we talk, she is just HAPPY! I knew how her Mom was.... but little Lesa didn't talk about it until she grew up, and distanced herself from her Mother.... My Daughter Janie, remembers one time when Lesa stayed all night.... they had their room upstairs.... So we kept hollering at them to "shut up and go to SLEEP!"..... Ha, ha! That just made them laugh and giggle even more!
But Lesa told Janie to say "chit" one day.... so Janie did, and I told her I would wash her mouth out with soap.... if she said it again.... Lesa was just laughing her little head off.... So Janie said it again..... and I did..... Well not a LOT, but she got to taste soap....
She STILL blames Lesa for that.... Haaaaaaaaaaaaah! NOW you should hear us talk! But Janie is my little buddy.....I don't think I could ever get mad at her.... for anything.... We just can't do that.
-
I knew a woman who had no contact with her family, but would fly to Germany at Christmas to spend it with her 'family of choice'. So Lesa had the right idea. If you have weeds at home, seek out flowers somewhere else.
-
GOOD one Wren! xoxo

Love that teka
Rosie yep i know

Susan- I am really sorry your mother had to "judge" how you dealt with cancer. I had a few of those folks in my life too during treatment. I just remember thinking "who does that, who tells somebody what to do, think or feel during cancer treatment? How would they even begin to know what this is like?" That being said, it hurts the worst when it is family. You can always jettison so called friends. I did not tell that many people about it, and only a handful of family members (who were not that great about it anyways).
Always remember friends are God's way of saying "I am sorry" when it comes to family!
I don't live around my family too and have the "two state rule" which means none of them are to move within two states of me. But what if we move to AZ? Then I am going to TX!
I think Rose is right about the referential statement. What does this have to do with me? How does this impact me? Is this a problem for me or not? This is where you can really see people who clearly lack empathy. I read something not that long ago that you should avoid spending time with people who have no empathy. I really try to do that now and find I am the better for it.
Luv- I heard 8 tornados in TX yesterday, you okay? I lived in TX once, I know how scary it is this time of the year.
-
Oh and Susan, my other favorite expression is "hell is other people." I think you know what I mean!
-
This has been on the national news and also going around FB today. It is a beautiful story about a film maker who finds films from the 30s and 40s and shares them with a 102 year old woman who used to be a dancer, so she can see herself for the first time. What a beautiful gift to give this woman at this time in her life.
Please watch it, it is the best feel good story!

Today's find. Found a pic not a name. $4 for two will be nice to have coffee in
-
Anyone see or hear from Patty? -
for fever blisters, get Acyclovir, also know as Zovirax. Prescription if you can take it. Comes in pills or cream. My insurance covers pill form, not cream. Works very fast and if started soon enough, they don't form blisters.
Patty posted on another thread, she's taking a break.

Scrolling found this. Bought it years ago. Repurposed it for ear cleaners
Now it has a name Madrid, Crystal Clear Industries
