hi Chevy, can't sleep? I had to use the bathroom at 4 am and can't get back to sleep, so I'm up. My sons GF will hate that spider. She's as bad as my DSister. She like the bug but thought the spider was gross. My GF has a dragon in her backyard garden. I'll have to get a pic for you guys. She got a couple of things but can't think of what they are.
Going to work on a tabletop runner today. I'll show you guys a pic soon. Got the other one done last week, still need to mail it to syndey.
I'm going back to swim class this morning! It's been 4 months since the last time, time to get back in the groove.
-
Good morning insomniacs- back from my birthday trip to the west coast to spend time with family. We had a great visit, lots of good eating, a jazz concert, a trip to the Nixon Museum, walk on the beach, and good old hang out time. I feel refreshed from the time away and also tired from the late travel in last night.
About spiders, I have great respect for them. Like Foots, I am very mindful of the black widows and they are around everywhere here in the SW. You can identify them by the hourglass red shape on their belly. If you dare to get that close.......
-
On their belly? I thought it was on their back? So you mean you have to turn one over? Hah! Like that's gonna happen!
Smarty! Yes I'm always up early... But I go to bed about 9.... at LEAST. Get up any time after 4 usually. You don't mean a REAL dragon.... do you? You mean like a little Gecko? Those little Lizards? It's probably a night-crawler, and you think it is a Dragon!

-
EWWWWW
YUCK
-
I've been gone for awhile and I come back and see nothing but spiders!! wth? lol
I'm so far behind that I can't get caught up

((hugs))
-
Ah, you know how chevy is!!! Spiders, poles, alleys, anything goes.
-
Smarty- love those giant bugs. A great big black cricket would be fun in the garden! Your son is most talented. Bet you are winding up for that trip to Ireland.
Chevy-- we had a tarantula in 10th grade biology class named "Angie Baby" after the Stone's song Angie.. No way I would let it walk on me. We had lots of black widows in California.. the pest fellow called them the "Ladies." Some of them were just huge, big as a quarter. Endemic in the central valley. How's that garden coming?
Well I have decided with the fever, aches, headache and now horrendous cough and congestion that I have the flu. Ugh.. Went to Onc yesterday drug myself in, counts good amazing. Hope I didn't spread it. Refusing all meds. I was going to take zometa as it might slow it down some but I feel so fantastically icky that I pushed that back a few weeks. Slept in the recliner to breathe.. feel like I could cough up my ribs.. Today is our anniversary - 26 years. Well altogether 29.. we lived together 3 years while DH was in Grad school. My folks called him their "sin-in law." Haha...
-
The shelter had a tarantula recently. It went up on Petfinder.org and a lady called wanting to adopt it. She had previously owned a tarantula and had housing and everything.
I remember seeing black widows and a tarantula in our yard in Okla. We also had horned toads that we played with. They liked the shade under the strawberries. I guess I'd been warned about black widows because I knew to tell Mom and she killed it.
-
Hi rosevalley, sorry to hear that you are feeling so crappy on your anniversary. I hope you feel better soon!
-
Did you gals see THAT? She was "with" him for years before! That must mean she SLEPT with him!!!!!!! Hah! Caught you babe! We went together for a year and 9 months before we could afford to get married.... My folks had moved out of State, so I lived with my Grandparents.... No fooling around, at least that's what they thought...... We were just lucky I didn't get pregnant.... Sheri was born a year after we got married..... Not that anyone cared.... Ha again!
Spookie! YOU there in FLORIDA and are scared of bugs? You who live in the whole State of Petri Dish??? It is really hot out today.... So I'm cleaning and organizing our "catch-all" garage. I need a break.... I'll go get a coke, and continue on.......... and not one spider in sight!
-
ok, no more spiders! Here's the dragon. Yes Chevy, a dragon! She also has a giraffe.

-
Ooooo! I like the dragon.
-
not hot here. Just right!!!!!

-
Here is your post card from Laguna Beach!

Very very cool dragon! What a fun piece that is! Does the dragon have a name?
Hey Chevy, want to hear a funny story. My Grandmother was visiting and she was a very hard working, elegant person, do the right thing old school Swedish Lutheran etc. So we are talking at my parents place and I had finished Grad school, had a tiny apartment in Philly worked in NJ. DH to be, was still in Grad school and had a tiny apartment near Penn. The rents we paid were outrageous. My Grandmother asked how much I paid in rent and how much DH paid. I told her and she just gasped! My goodness she said, "it surly would make more sense if you moved in together, you would save a fortune!" Grandma and my folks all liked DH and he was over lots. My Mother turned around and freaked.."Really she said??" So I told my Mom when we moved in together that I was just being fiscally careful, safer to have a roommate in the big city and saving money to pay off my school loans and following Grandma's recommendation! Ha ha you should have seen the look on her face! Grandma was right!
Everyone said, folks who live together first never stayed married. Not true. We also only spent 350 on our entire wedding, church office affair, family only and a nice lunch out. I have always believed in simplicity and we are firmly on the same page core value wise. I think that matters more in the long run. Most of the folks I knew who spent a zillion bucks on weddings got divorced.
-
Rosie - congratulations on your anniversary. I'm SO sorry you were completely under the weather for it. Bah humbug. Take care of yourself and feel better soon. That unending cough is the pits. Love your story about about your grandmother.
We had a tiny wedding, too, and that was almost 30 years ago. My rule of thumb is that the more spent on the wedding the briefer the duration of the marriage.
Jazzy - thanks for the visual of blue skies and gorgeous beach. What concert did you attend??
We've got hail storms and thunder and wild winds this afternoon. No lightening that I've seen yet. March is going out like a lion.
-
hey ladies. I got home from the hospital on sat and had to return yesterday. Admitted again. Passed out in er floor twice. Got a nice bump on my head. This time I came to our other local hospital hoping for a new set of eyes and brains to figure this out.
All caught up on reading about you guys. I so wanna respond to all but just too tired. I so want to be known as the encourager, the one who is positively happy and driving everyone else crazy with my giddiness. So watch out - sooner or later I am going to get better physically then me mental mood will be back on the upswing. I hate always having bad news - ready for the positive.
Thanks for everyone support. It has been great.
Hootie hoo
-
The dragon's name is George. I told her that's wrong because that means human in dragon language.
well, getting it all together. Have to figure out something for the middle and the binding. Should have it done by end of week.

It's all stitched down to the batting and backing fabric. A little more quilting and then done.
Patty, tell them docs to get it figured out! We need you
-
Hopeful- George Benson. It was just the best! We were all up and dancing the last hour!

-
Smarrty I'm going to send that pic to DD. She will go crazy over that!! Very nice!!
-
Hugs Patty. I hope they get this figured out soon. In the meantime, how about a helmet? Are you nauseated or having stomach cramps when it happens? Or maybe you've been flat in bed for so long your brain has forgotten where 'up' is? This is so not fun for you and your family!
-
Wow, I have some catching up to do!
Jazzy--Glad you are back. Lovely pics. I hope you feel all refreshed.
Patty--That's a bummer you are back in the hospital. You continue to be in my prayers. I hope your energy picks up soon.
Smaarty--Love the giraffe and the dragon. I like the dragon's name too.
Rose--You poor thing, I hate having a bad cough. I like to use essential oils when I'm down with viral things. I hope you are taking good care of yourself.
I'm not sure I've seen Footprints in here before--Hello

Hello and welcome to anyone I missed.
I have that "run over by a bus" feeling today. Herceptin infusion after rads. It was otherwise a restful day. My mom offered to cook dinner so I wouldn't need to.
I wrote a poem for my cousin who passed away--it's meant to be through the eyes of her husband:
My beloved Angel took flight this day
With honor, she was done with earthly care
She flew to heaven, but not far away
Leaving her love behind to share
That I might not feel too much dismay
For she knew her absence would be hard to bear
I will fly away to meet her someday
She'll greet me lovely, smiling, and fair
We'll hug and kiss and happily say
No more shall we be a separate pair
Together forever, we will stay
In blissful joy beyond compare
-
I am here
God bless You all
-
Patty, so very sorry to see you back in hospital again and again. You really should get an upgrade after spending so much time there. I hope they get it figured out this time.
Mombie that is lovely.
Angel, sleep well tonight. -
Smaarty, I saw this on facebook and it made me think of the pretty things you make. This one says it's called a ZigZag Love Quilt. I never learned to sew, but I think I might try to learn a little this year. My mom wanted to teach me when I was growing up. She was an amazing seamstress. I was stupid to pass up the lessons. It's too bad we aren't smarter about things when we are young.
Do you have one of those special quilting machines or do you use a regular machine?

-
Patty- sorry you were back in the hospital.
Foots- glad to see you here too.
Prayers for all my sisters here going through tough times right now.
-
Can't sleep either Jazzy? I'm up trying to find a travel Scrabble game that's better than the crumby one I have. DH and I play a lot and I want to take it to Hawaii.
-
mombie. Great poem ( spell check on my side changed poem to porn ). Lol that's another conversation altogether. Love that quilt. Y friends mom passed recently and she found someone to take most if her moms clothes that held the most memories to an lady who is turning them in to quilts. I've seen one so far - it was incredibly special. Think my friend bought the backing and materials and it only cost her &50 to get 3 quilts - wrap around style. Sounds great to me. Wish I had thought to do that with my moms clothes.
Still in hospital. Fluid are getting my body stronger - they always do Til I get home without them. Having a lower gi today and a colonoscopy maybe tomorrow. Got several Drs here putting their heads together. Hoping no make that praying for an answer and solution.
Hope everyone is sleeping peacefully pain free tonight.
