I need this break , dang it. Using a assistants to get up and down. Just hanging out. I do not want to be in er tonight or even tomorrow. Doon with that mess. I will not stay down. I am women hear me roar!
-
Damn Patty I heard u roar all the way over here, or there is a lion around here. Well anyway yes u know to drink loads of water but always drink the ones with electrolytes in it--it helps more and stay put and Monday go to ER if needed and I hope u don't need it.
OK I didn't catch up but I'm here.
2nd I do hope things are going better and YAY for u'r DD
Spookie that quilt is so pretty and I love the cat too.
Hey Chevy did u read -Sas- There are rules or a break up. Now are these in writing and initialed or spoken with a handshake. Will they stand up in court. This is a new concept it might catch on.
Oh Phylosmartass I think those rads have burnt some part of u'r brain again, just when u thought it was safe to think, it's not--so don't go to far or we'll have to send out a posse to find you--did u get that toilet paper with a word a day on it?
Jazzy my nails still fall off, just a couple tho and my toe nails grew back sideways maybe that's why I walk funny.
Well I do hope u all have a decent weekend--it's getting warmer here and snow has melted finally.

Wren what a super cute menu! I love it. Too bad the little kid is too little to remember.. great idea. We had comfort food for dinner tonight- buttermilk biscuits covered in chicken, carrots, potatoes and green beans & chicken gravy... no one signed or talked! Scarffed. My DH and DD were so happy... yum! So good on a cold rainy spring evening.
Patty-hope you take care of yourself.
Sassy- I just about never care too much about glass. I mean 20 years with a disabled kid and we use corelle or plastic- better chance of it surviving!! Anyway I found 6 wine glasses at a thrift shop that I really thought were cute. Bought them and I accidentally broke one this Spring. Well low and behold I found the same one at goodwill! What luck! Just one and the same size! Still have 6! They lasted a whole year.
2nd time around- funny photo. My daughter got a funny BDay card with this old Russian woman on the front.. muttering about birthday wishes being fun tradition but ... "Wish for goat. Does goat come? No goat. But fun tradition anyway!" Hilarious.
Rained all day a good soaker -wonderful for the plants and we needed it. Sleep tight ya'all.
-
Pi day. My husband loved to say "Pie are square," then "No, pie are round; cornbread are square." Corny, huh, but who cares?
P.S. Gemma, I wish I could send you some of my plants. I have lots of wild ones from the woods, too.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only insomniac out there.
Mostlymom, I checked out that link. Pretty brave of those women to be in that project. Thanks for sharing.
I tend to read a lot at night. Anyone have good titles to suggest?
-
Wren, Cute with the Pi pie's and all taste treats kids love yum........
Rosie, love the biscuits, chicken, veggie, gravy. Brings back memories of the first commercial package pot pies as a kid.. Fun when they're is an unexpected find at a thrift. I've been collecting cobalt stuff for about 4 years. All the serving pieces and glasses have been thrifted a piece at a time. Forget about where I got the plates, but now have a service for eight. LOL corelle is starting to show up heavily in thrifts. It's the stuff I started with also. Implication is it's not the generation before us, it's now into our generation. OUCH.
Hygiea and MombieZombie welcome newbies

-
Oh wait... like she knows what electrolytes are...........CAMMI!!!!!! You woke up!
No, Sass doesn't exactly shake his.... hand! Where HAVE you been??
Your nails are all off? And you walk funny? Yes, me and Sass have done that occasionally too, but it has nothing to do with our "nails"...
Peppermint, you still with us? I don't know what you quite said, but at least you are still with us!!!! Drink water...!!!
Mombie! Okay yes! I have just read 3 of Daniele Steel's books! I have loved all the books I have read by her...probably about 20+... also.... Memoir's of a Geisha! By Arthur Golden! It's one I want to read again.
Jackie Collins books are a little MUCH, but she writes with a sense of humor.
I just don't like books where you have to learn like 6 or 8 characters that will be in it..Hard to keep track of...
Also "Because of the Twins".... by Carole Halston.... Carole is with us on the "Older women thread".... She is another good writer, and you can finish her books in a day!
I bought most of mine at the Goodwill, the flea market, or online books from Barnes & Noble, for my Nook! Also, you can look them up, and see what the reviews are, before you buy.
Another one..... The Mad Woman in the Cabin...By Judy Nolte Temple.... A story about the life of Baby Doe Tabor.
AND... A Woman of Substance. By Barbara Taylor Bradford.... GREAT book!
Oh hey Sass! Let's have coffee together! Mombie is new here.... say Hi to her again!

Thanks for the welcome gals. I am hardly ever blessed with people who are up when I am!
I will definitely check out some of those titles Chevyboy. I have read Memoirs of a Geisha--loved it. If you want another cheap source for used books, check out Abebooks.com. Oh, and love the quote. I often feel like reading is equivalent to breathing. If I don't have at least ten books waiting for me, I feel worried that I'll run out too fast. Enjoy your coffee.

Patty, your s/s's from your post "No vomiting or fever. Pain in back, cramping tummy and major exhausted. Fell twice today no idea what happened. Was walking along then bam looking at the sky. Kinda freaky. Ben saying. " all is well I am fine "
"No vomiting or fever"--you would have mentioned diarrhea if present b/c you always have ------So unless you aren't drinking @ least 1 1/2 to 2 liters, then your s/s's don't suggest dehydration. Many can drink less than that and still don't show s/s/'s of dehydration. The kidney is amazing at maintaining electrolyte balance until things are messed up by too little fluids or nutrients.
"Pain in back". Could be related to original problem, but unlikely related to syncope. If it is related you will develop more s/s--fever, headache, seizures. Infection could be re-occurring and you are in the early phase. just saying this so you understand what may be happening.
"Cramping tummy"-- the intestinal tract has been assaulted by bacteria then antibiotics. Redevelopment of normal intestinal flora(bacteria), can take months. Probiotics can be used, but should be purchased from a reputable health food/nutrition store. But use in a low immune state should be done under doctors care. Latinex is a prescription product. It is lactobacillus. Lactobacillus colonizes the furthest portion of the small intestine. The large intestine has many more types of good bacteria Like Bifidus(sic) and others. One of the yogurts has it, but I forget which one. You could have Ben check out labels.
You may find that you can't eat foods as you did before i.e. may cause diarrhea, constipation, cramping, bloating. Introduce new foods one at a time over three days, If intestinal s/s occur you will know which one is the culprit.
Problem with the intestinal tract: you can develop some serious conditions b/c of the assault. Not going to pull any punches here--colitis, pseudo-membraneous colitis, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel, and C-diff. Special recovery care is necessary in the next six plus months to protect the colon. I'm such a Grinch, Docs don't tell you such stuff. But you can't protect yourself from that which you don't know.
"major exhausted". Your are in a de-conditioned state. Based on your previous posts, you indicated that you didn't walk much in the hospital. What happened with this is(regretfully) a BIG portion of your in hospital care was neglected. The staff should have had you up walking at least 4 times a day the length of the hall or in your room as much as possible. I know difficult with all you had going on, but the body is not meant to be inactive. We lose strength rapidly with inactivity. If you were 'old' like me, you would have been sent off to a rehab facility. But you are young, this aspect of your care wasn't perceived a problem. That's why I say it was neglected. This will take along time to get you back in shape b/c of the inattention of this in the hospital. Sorry, but true. But in relation to your syncope, not the source. Falling can definitely be related to de-conditioning, but not fainting without some warning.
"Was walking along then bam looking at the sky. Kinda freaky. Ben saying. " all is well I am fine ". Mixed bag here. Without further info. Ben was with you when you passed out and lowered you to the floor. I can assume this b/c you didn't identify any injuries post falls and you were "looking at the sky". Highly unusual to faint with out hurting something. Highly unusual to be face up after a fall unless you fell directly backward. Again injury of some degree would be present.
This is where many questions are raised? Did Ben lower you to the floor? Had you experienced any s/s upon getting up? Did Ben notice any or did you just go limp? How many steps did you take before fainting? Were there any s/s just before fainting?
Not unusual to not remember anything that happened before a fall if it was b/c of drop in BP. BP is maintained by the two major components-- Cardiac output X systemic vascular resistance. A three second drop in in Cardiac output can cause syncope. A significant change in the peripheral resistance can cause snycope. A drop in BP can be caused by a laundry list of problems. Volumes are written on the subject.
The ones on the laundry list that you can control is maintaining adequate volume--fluids. Work on the deconditioning(musculoskeletal & cardiovascular). Some suggestions. Leg strengthening exercises in bed. Move legs in all directions>>straight leg raising from the hip--up, down, in out. Bend the knee bringing the heel up to the butt. You can work the muscles and vascular system even more by having Ben apply resistance i.e you move the leg against his hand in all directions. Arms>> get a couple of soup cans or hand weights (1-2 pounds). Use weight in all directions. Torso--situp, lay down repeat. Sit at side of bed>>stand up(slowly), sit down repeat. With this particular one have someone stand right in front of you incase you get light headed or faint, they can push you back on the bed.
These exercises will strengthen you all over. Before you walk do leg and arm movements, stand up/sit down a few times before walking to wake up the body to planned movement.
Tell me what's not clear here? Ok I'm done. Hit all the high points. I'll post if I think of something else.
HUGS
Thought of something. All the nurses and pseudo nurses are concerned that you should call the doc. I suggested that too. You said you didn't want too. I respect your wishes. What is written above is meant to give you some tools to work with and consider.
Okay added some stuff under the tummy stuff.

The Southlander is just popping in to say hi. It is 2.30 am here but no sleeping for me. I should put my tablet up. I am on my iPhone and it wrote pooping.
How are you SAS? Things good and bad here.
Big hugs.

ALY, Where have you been Southlander. It's been ages I want you to meet Smarrty here. She's going to Australia next year. I told her about you and ChrissyB.

Morning Owlettes! Still hanging around, rads wounds receding consistently, though a new little (pea-sized) spot opened up where last boosts were, around tumor bed.
DH took DC & me to Red Lobster for celebration of annual bonus, we all had lobster AND dessert! Yummie. As a former Mainiac (in another lifetime) lobstermeat is food of the gods stuff to me.
Well, off to shower and wound care, see y'all later!
P.S. It's definitely Spring here! Atchoo!
-
Mags Good Morning--enjoyed talking lots of laughs --nice. I'm holding the fort here. Everyone must be off to fun Sunday stuff. Me nothing. Still too cold to swim. Sun and sky is beautiful, doors open. YAY for dinner out. Lobster YUM
-
11:15 off to visit a friend
-
morning to the newbies. Hi Alyson. It's been awhile since you posted here. Well it's definitely spring here. Took off the flannel sheets and wore a spring/summer dress yesterday. It's been in the upper 70s. Unseasonably warm. And no rain. On the news it shows flooding on the Ohio river. Don't remember where. Why can't they pipe excess water from point A to point B? They can pipe oil for pity shakes!
Have a quilt meeting soon and have to get stuff ready. Got 3 quilts ready to ship to quilter. I decided that GDs quilt isn't going to get done unless she fixes it. She did a crappy job and I'm not wasting time, fabric and money on it! GS did a better job and its his first time sewing. She's even had lessons. Oh well.
Someone asked to see other quilts, go to Stitching the pieces Together, another thread, some are mine, lots of others.

The Ohio river is supposed to crest at 55 feet in Cincinnati. Thats 3 feet above flood stage. Lots of back flooding on the smaller rivers around there. I can't remember it going much above 60 feet, really since the Corps of Enginers built the locks and dams on the river.
-
Mags- as as someone who spent a lot of time in Maine once (including living there one summer during college years), I could not agree more about lobster. I am glad you had a yummy dinner.
Keep healing girlfriend....

A little snapshot of spring for everyone who needs it. Pear tree in bloom.

-
that looks like my Red Pear tree in the backyard. Was thinking of taking a pic. Now I don't have to.
-
Smarty- these are blooming too. I think an apricot?

-
Love the trees blooming so beautiful. I felt good enough to make egg sandwiches for breakfast the dh took me on a walk up and down our long driveway to get some fresh air. Is nice out. Nearly 70 today. Dh put my rocker on the front porch so I can feel the sun on my face. Forgot what u said yesterday. I wasn't very clear. There was no one named Ben. Was trying to prove to family I felt well. Think I majorly missed the mark. Feeling tired now. So think I'll get a lil nap so I can get back out in the sunshine. My dhs gradma died this am. Was expecting it from cancer she was like 96 I think. She really wanted her grandchildren to be pallbearers but it is impossible for us to make the trip. I def can't go and dh afraid to leave me.
-
Patty I am so sorry about your DH's grandma. Don't let him go, you need him there with you. Grandma would have said so! I am glad you are slowly returning.. it takes time and you need to take it SLOW. Praying for your return to health and well being.
Chevy- I LOVE ANNIE DILLARD. She wrote Pilgrim at Tinker Creek.. great book. Loved it.
Hi to all! Hugs.
-
Hey Patty, YAY up and walking. LOL"Ben saying. " all is well I am fine ". Ben was a misspelling for Been? Well never heard you talk about Ben before. But I have at times dropped Greg's(DH) name into writing. So, the falls were unattended. Majorly lucky no injuries---so happy. The lengthy post of this am was to give you tools to try and avoid docs as you stated that you wanted too. Yesterday's post was suggesting a helmet.
Please, extend condolences to DHS's about his grandma. tough situation.
ENJOY the sun
-
Jazzy such pretty trees! In your yard? Yummy eating!!!
-
Spookie- the trees were actually from a visit to the botanical gardens yesterday here in town. I do have a ornamental weeping cherry getting ready to do it's thing in my yard!
