Sas, my DH is golfing. We have spent enough time together lately, with me being laid up.
I read ( somewhere ) that Brazil nuts are one of the best nuts for Breast cancer. High in selineine? One of the health "nut" said if every young girl ate 10 Brazil nuts a day they could get rid of Breast cancer in 3 generations. Not likely, but I do think they are good & good for us
-
DOUBLE CHIT forgot about that!!!!!!
Think we can capture sprinkler water to flush. It's reclaimed water on a different line

Spooke, Chit

MammaR

Smarrty---sure time will tell. If I still have the bridal lace that I bought for the tree dress.
Golf Girl. I found four nuts for someone to try to substitute taking a calcium supplement that may cause a change in constipation. Almonds-234, hazelnut aka filberts-269, brazil-186, and sesame seeds-1,160. mg- =100gms per serving .
When I looked at the list last week and looked at high calcium foods. One thought I had as a research thingy was 'Has a study been done where participants were broken into a study group where natural sources of calcium equal to the amount of supplement group been done?' In those four studies that I posted, I never saw diet discussed. Calcium taken as a supplement can cause constipation. Constipation can cause serious bad complications. Put calcium supplements together with opiods.can lead to disaster............anyways , one question leads to another question.
Golf Girl or whomever said the pics looked like diamonds. Those three spike points of light were reflections of the feet. That little plate is footed. I hade a better pic , but somehow I wiped it out

Hmm that's my HAPPY VALENTINE -
I am pages behind again, can't keep up.

-
I am also alone for Valentines Day and miss my Father that
always got me flowers and a valentine. Then I had to help take
care of 3 family members that had cancer. so I just buy a balloon
from my dad and put it on my wheelchair, but some else need them and
so I gave them away. < HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ALL MY FRIENDS>
-
Bless you Foots you are always thinking prayers for others, may those thoughts come back to you -
Happy Valentine's Day Foots!!! You have us all and Faith the dog. My cat Emmy is having one of those insane crazed neurological spazz attacks where they run frantically from room to room, wild eyed- doing bank shots off the furniture... at 14 pounds she sounds like a herd of Buffalo! Guess she's peeved she didn't get a Valentines day treat! My other toothless old cat Zoe is playing with her fuzzy toy mouse.. she limps (has a bum shoulder) and no teeth but she still plays! Adorable. Para cat Olympics! Whoo Hoo!
-
Very hurt and depressed right now. While every other person got something for Valentine's Day, I didn't get anything!
-
hi ladies, popping in to say hi. Approaching 30,000 so slowing way down on posts.
M0mmyof2, my DH worked yesterday so we celebrated Valentine's another day.
Maybe send yourself some flowers on your DH's credit card and sign his name?
SAS, sent you a PM. Love & hugs to all. ♥
-
Hi ladies- reading some things here that some folks did not have a very good day yesterday. I am single and have been without relationship for awhile, so I try to do something nice for myself instead. I got V-day cards from my sister and best friend, and a call from some other friends yesterday but never get gifts usually. I did go to a fundraiser this week and bought myself a heart shaped ring, which I love and that is my gift to myself. Love comes in many shapes and forms in this world and I try to embrace the concept of love in general on V-day.....
So Mommy, hugs to you that you did not get any acknowledgement around this and to my single friend Footprints too and wishing your kindness comes back to you a thousand fold.
What I did do yesterday was to go help a friend going through cancer treatment. Different kind of cancer, and she is in the middle of chemo, will have a small targeted dose of radiation, and then be done with treatment by April. I told her yesterday of my bc journey, something I had been wanting to do but during other times, others were around and have been careful to keep my info private for professional reasons. She had some bad experiences with things being shared about this without her permission early on too. Anyways, it made for a better conversation and my connection around helping her. She thanked me for trusting her with my story which she knows is only for her. We went out and had some fajitas at a nearby place for dinner and just had a good evening talking about everything. She is doing really well so far, and taking a lot of things in stride as best she can. Like everyone, she is ready to be done with treatment.
Wishing everyone a good sunday and the continuation of a long weekend if you have Pres Day off tomorrow!

Hey Gg Brazil nuts. selenium is a bigdeal for the thyroid too. that'd be a two for one nut. Big thyroid things that I know my diet was deficient. iodine ,selenium, zinc

mommaray, haven't been on for a few days, sorry to hear the news. I know you know my story, still going strong and having fun. They have a lot of stuff to buy us time.....some I have liked better than others. For me, it went quickly from gotta live and haven fun, a obsession that no one cares, to this is my normal life, I'm not sick, this is just me. I have never updated my stuff on the page, wouldn't want to read it every time I logged in. It is a process to wrap your mind around. I am meeting with a gal from innermen Angels this Wednesday night. It's an organization that matches you with someone going through the same thing. It has taken me a long time to want to do that. As I said, it is an process. God bless my frien

Susan, good to see YA, YOU rock.I hope your meeting Wed. works out.
Sas, I buy Brazil nuts in the bulk section. When I am in the big city, I buy them at Whole foods. Try to eat them daily.
Badger, do you get cut off at 30,000 posts? Lol.....you should get a award..
MommaRay, thinking of you, wish I had words to help ease your grief....
Jazzy, what a good friend you are.
Cami, we miss you. Hope all is ok?
Happy Sunday to all...
HOOTIE Hoo PattyP ........:/)

Hubby's lack of action about Valentine's Day caused a big fight. He has become very thoughtless about special days (birthday, anniversary, etc). I end up either getting something either after the day has come and gone or not at all. Told him if this was the way he was going to be from now on, I'll do for myself and he won't get anything on a day that is supposed to be special to him just so he sees how it feels.
-
Mommy- sorry about the fight. I hope things get better for you and DH.
Susan- I hope things go well on Wed too. This was my first time reaching out to someone going through cancer treatment to help. We just have to be ready to do that for another person.
When I told my sister today about sharing with my friend last night, she said "no one understands the whole process and upheaval until you go through it." But then again, that is why we are all here too? We know.
-
hi all, still lurking, too too much going on to keep up.
Mommy, I feel your pain. Please be assured you are not the only one who received nothing for V-Day. (Edited my comment here, sending you a PM)
I have found that remembering others makes me happy. Texts to friends I care for. The queen of caring for others is Foots. She makes others (including me) feel so important and loved, I'm hoping she's getting some pleasure out of how important she is making others feel important and loved. She's an angel.
As someone said, I've learned to be nice to myself. Bought myself things in the past, done things I want to do. Actually, was totally thrilled beyond words last night: apparently DH got the mail yesterday and it never made it inside (mail box was empty when I checked). Super surprised to find a card from a sweet friend. That meant the world to me
-
Susan, hoping your Imerman Angel helps. (I do that when I've had time). Cool having local support.
MammaRay, so sorry for the recent news. Will be sure to include you in my prayers.
Sassy, what's up with your earlier post? I think it's like the 4th one on this page. Only brings google search for me.
Someone asked about Roll Call: that would be me. Will try to get an updated one (have to read back since page 660, so that'll take a while. I believe Jwoo had contact info, I only have a couple Owlettes. If anyone wants to share that info, I would be happy to collect it. Don't release info unless I get permission but at least it gives us a way to contact if someone goes MIA. Also, taking birthdays. Need to get a list of that together too.
Need to read back the last half dozen pages or so....

Mom2.... They just get that way I think! Next holiday or Birthday coming up, plan something fun, even if it isn't with him.... Ask him if he wants to go to a movie or out to lunch on your Birthday or something, and if he doesn't then plan it with a gal-friend.... or even someone MORE fun.... Ha!
We just feel like every day to us is special.... We are ALways together, except for 1 1/2 hours a day.... I told him Happy Valentine's Day, and went over to him and hugged him, and he said the same to me.... You just have to instigate it.... I know..... It didn't used to be that way, but I'm comfortable with the way it is now.... He USED to buy me special cards, and I have saved all of them.... My Dad did that with my Mom too....
But he buys me other little things.... even special cookies I love....Or he'll get me a "Sweet Tea" at Walmart while I am waiting in line.... just little stupid things, but they mean a lot to me....
Or buy HIM something little that he likes, and say "this is for your Valentine's Day, that we forgot.... Ha!

-
Okay.... I give up.... For some reason, I can't post this fun cartoon about our Valentine guys!
-
2nd time- sorry you did not get any recognition either.
Well to hell with the men, I saw Happy Day after Valentines Day to everyone here!
And want to know a little trick about V-Day? Go to your favorite grocery store and you will find all the V-day flowers that did not sell for half price or more off! I learned that trick a few years back. I plan to go get my discount flowers this week!
Now if you cannot get out to do something nice for yourself, pamper yourself at home with a foot soak, nice warm bath with bath salts, etc. So many ways to be kind to yourself.
-
We didn't exchange valentine's because the opera tickets were pricey and that was for the month. Sometimes you have to pick what is important not a sanctioned holiday. I agree with everyone that doing things that make you feel good is the way to go. If you are in Trader Joes and see a lovely bunch of flowers buy them! Flowers make the heart sing - splurge! Even if it is one rose that you can afford. Enjoy that rose. I try not to have any expectations on anniversaries or bdays then you can't be disappointed! I do enjoy buying things for the kids... love that.
We went up to the cabin yesterday. Turned on the water and for the first time in 3 years no leaks! Nothing froze and broke YAY!!! We sat by the roaring woodstove. it was nice. The cabin has been on the market and I can't wait for it to sell. We have some new neighbors whose idea of forest living is to squash, mutilate and destroy the vegetation, silence and solitude the forest provides. Their Grandfather has a screaming case of OCD and spends every waking moment banging, hammering, drilling, sawing endlessly; he can't stop moving or making noise. Then all the wild lovely vegetation between our properties they pulled up now it's bare mud. I was so pissed. I just can't live next to these folks. They explode their property with trailers, ski-machines, boats, endless loads of crap. They are loud and ironically complain about others kids making noise! I find that hilarious - since no one is louder then they are or their 2 huskies! Anyway, I am DONE! I used to have some regrets about selling the place. I loved it so much. But we never see any wildlife anymore since too much activity and habitat destruction. I mean we used to see rabbits and deer and huge owls... since they moved in NADA... nothing. No peace and it's ugly and noisy. I quit. May the new owners have 2 huge rambunctious labs with booming barks and 6 kids, endless relatives and a huge chain saw! They will be best buddies or drive each other nuts. :-)
Just got back from 5 guys and they have the best burgers - kids love them. We love them. Of course we were going to spend some time playing basketball and walking. I ruined it. I am ruled by my intestines... the big "D." So I ruined our outing..detour home to the bathroom, maybe things have calmed down enough to try again. I haven't even taken the afinitor... which should be renamed afinishitor...ha ha. I wish I had your attitude Susan.. I am so sick of life in cancerland. It's sunny and I am sick of it.. this is sad...
Anyway - enjoy what the day has left! Find some little thing that makes you smile and focus on that. Or bring the flowers into the bathroom!
-
Spookies - Thanks for the photo - it was (is) very therapeutic. No snow here but no palm trees and warm waters, either.
-
It's snowing here....of course... Ha! Good idea to get yourself flowers! I can't really say anything, or holler about the Holiday's, because DH gave me the money for my car! So it's paid for.... We are really fortunate and lucky.... So I think that has all my "gifts" covered for YEARS....
-
For my friends Mommy2, 2nd Time and Footprints.

-
Thanks, Jazzy! Love the photo.
Yes, did just that: bought my favorite chocolates and some cookies half price. DH was nicer this morning (maybe he was feeling guilty for not doing anything?), made French toast for breakfast. Asked what I wanted for dinner: steak on the barbie! My favorite produce market has lobster tails for $6, so surf and turf, baked potato and fresh asparagus for me! Could have been worse.
Chevy, I did give DH a hug and wished him happy V-Day. Just doesn't get it
Rosie, glad no damage except that done by neighbors. Sucks they ruin life for others.
