Quick drop in b4 work starts.
Gracie, don't worry about a few tablets of NSAID you took.
Have a blessed day, every one.

Loverly ~ You are so mean - posting that picture of me this morning!
Gracie ~ What bone(s) are you having biopsied? When I had my spine biopsied, I was on an Elvis variety and level of pain meds, including Ibuprofen. I think. (I was taking ALOT of drugs) I don't recall having to skip anything before the procedure. Heck, I was taking handfuls of stuff right before I laid down on the table! I was worried about taking one of my pain killers too soon and the helpful PA told me "Oh honey! Medicine don't know what time you take it! You just go ahead and take it now, it doesn't matter" . Hmmm....if she where a bit older, I would wonder if she had been Elvis's nurse..... Anywhoo's..... I fully concur with Loverly; I'm sure that little bit of Ibuprofen won't hurt anything. Usually NSAIDs are discontinued before a major surgery to reduce the chances of bleeding. A biopsy is just a little needle thingy
If the grands are young/gullible you could have them play some fun games like "house"....certain ages are delighted to play with the vacuum cleaner and feather duster. "Guess where this belongs", "fastest laundry sorter" "Nana's magic toilet brush".....lots of fun! Or pretend you are all on a cruise ship and have the kids bring you pillows, magazines and cool beverages. Spa Day is a good one too! Back and foot massages, quiet meditation times............use your imagination

loveroflife thanks! I will try not to worry 😉
Shep, ok I just realized it was on the list of things I was supposed to stop a week before, and it really works, I take 800 mg at a time. But now will just use Tylenol or Lortab until the procedure. They are biopsing (sp?) one of the spots on my spine... The onc said needle biopsy, the tech at the hospital said bone biopsy... So I have no idea what they are actually doing but I do know it involves the ct. Hoping it's not the same jerk that did my sentinel node shots the first time... He was absolutely cruel and jabbed the needle in very hard and the yelled at me when I felt like I was going to pass out... Wanted to get off the table and knock the stuffings out of him!!!
-
jazzy thank you 😊 Will have to wait until next Monday that's my oncologist appointment.
-
shep oh my gosh I LOVE your suggestions with the grandkids!!! Going to use those games 👍
-
Gracie ~ The needle is used for the procedure so the terms are interchangeable. The spine biopsy shouldn't hurt..... no biopsy should. Ah, but then there are those jack asses who have no business interacting with other living creatures. If I had to have another spine biopsy, I would inisist on mild sedation and/or a spinal block. I wenpt to a chitty hospital; yours may already be planning on doing those things. Can you call your doctor and ask what comfort measures they'll be taking for you? Remind your team you have fibro and Lupus and need extra consideration for after the procedure as your symptoms may flare-up. Always best to be prepped with proper meds just in case
-
Gracie, we will all come and beat the snot out of whoever hurts you.....
Puppy going ou 3xs during the night is taking its toll on me. Wow, I'm tired.
Hope everyone is feeling as good as they can
Love, hugs and prayers, to all
How are you doing holeinone?? I haven't seen a post unless I missed it. Hope chemo is treating you well.
I go this Wednesday, yucky poo poo
Sorry i didn't address everyone..didn't take notes this time
Nighty night

Hello Ladies,
Gracie - I had a biopsy of my spine back in 2014 and it wasn't too bad. I did flinch once when the doctor hit a nerve, but then they gave me more meds and the rest went fine.
Shep - The Robaxine seems to work fine for me, I think. It doesn't make me drowsy or give me that feeling of being jello, so I guess it's working. Chest still hurts though. Am using Fentanyl patch, plus oxychodone for now. Also, you're right, thankfully we're not in a contest.
MO's office called with bone scan results today. Cancer is still stable. Thank you God! However, there seems to be loosening of my hip hardware, so I don't know if that means I'll have to have surgery now or what. Also, they used the phrase "Photopenia at the proximal Femur". I googled this and it said that it can mean there is an infection or it can mean nothing. Well that's a lot of help. I have an appt. with Ortho PA on 8/22, so I'll just have to wait until then. All I can say is this better NOT mess up my getting my puppy.
Eyes are getting heavy, so I'll say goodnight and sleep well all. :0)
-
Gracie, sorry I was in a rush this morning when I posted. I wanted to let you know that ibuprofen has a short half life so it won't put you at risk for bleeding if you don't take it 24 hours prior to a procedure (assuming your kidney function is normal). Hope that helpsrelieve a bit of your angst.
ShepK, I love it when a friend is honest with me. I'm a Plain Jane actually. I have never layered that much make up on me. That was an app my daughters and I play with. I need a tutorial session on how to apply makeup properly. Need to see that movie you recommended. DH has a different sense of humor so I won't torture him like you tortured your FFH. You are so naughty for enjoying tormenting him.
Jazzy, have you ever tried grilled corn drizzled with lightly salted green onion oil? The taste is heavenly.
-
JazzyJune- what a time you are having post hip surgery with all this. I hope you can get some answers next week. I hope you don't need more surgery. Hugs sister.
Loverly- no but YUM. Gonna try that!
-
susan3: don't worry about taking notes, we'll remember. We'll eat plates of normal spaghetti and think of you.
-
Hi everyone, I hope you had a good Monday.
Junie, let's see how many days in a row you can go without going to the ER!
Jazzy, awesome farmer's market pictures! I love the sights, sounds and smells of a big farmer's market.
Gracie, I hope your day with the grandkids was good. Best wishes with the bone biopsy!
Sas and Shep, how about drizzling the caramel on top of the chocolate and triscut? I do like caramel, and chocolate..I am more likely to put on a graham cracker, or even better, ice cream.
Loverly, I am speechless at just a glimpse of what you went through as a child. What an adjustment for you and your family. Wow!! Good luck this week as you prepare your oldest for her move.
I took my kids to a check up with their pulmonologist this AM. I had received a letter recently that he was retiring, so I knew this would be our last appointment with him. At the time of my children's birth he was also working as an NICU doc, and he was called in specifically to care for my DD. We talked a lot today about back then...in the NICU. He said he still remembers how sick she was. (There were a few times we were told she may not make it.) It amazes me that someone who has cared for hundreds of kids remembers specifics of caring for mine 16 years ago. During the exam the Dr noticed that my DS has one enlarged tonsil and suggested we see an ENT. He then told me that the ENT we normally see is on medical leave, so I'll call the office tomorrow and see when we can get into one of his partners. The Dr went on to say that with only one tonsil being enlarged it could be an indicator of cancer. I'm trying not to panic, and yes, this Dr knows about my Dx. I'm really surprised he made that comment because I've never known him to be alarming.
School starts in two weeks and today I got a text to work in one of the kitchens on the first day of school. I'm a little worried about how well I'll be able to handle jumping back into the physical work, but I guess I won't know until I try.
Feeling a little stressed tonight...hoping to be able to shut my brain off and sleep.
-
WildT - 3 so far. Yeah!
-
JunieB ~ Yippee! Stable Scans!!!!!
We'll do the dancing for you - gotta keep that hip put
Saw my PCP and got an RX for Robaxin. Gonna take it now and go to bed!
Susan & Queenie ~ What are you two up to with that spaghetti?
Jazzy ~ I could almost smell the peaches from your pics. You and Loverly can keep the hot stuff!
Loverly ~ FFH wanted to see that movie too. I think he was expecting something different than what is was, maybe like a female Jackass? He very much deserves tormenting, that is why I enjoy it
WildT ~ Big (((hugs))) to you. Tonsils are funky.....so reactive to all kinds of stuff. Hoping your Dr. is just being over cautious.
Sensi ~ Hey you! (waving)
Gracie ~ hope you survived the day and ended up with a nice clean house
Sassafrass ~ are you still "with" us?
Love to all
Goodnight!
-
Thanks Sheppie!
-
We eat grilled corn with lime juice and chili powder. I think our powder must be old. I accidentally dumped it into my oatmeal (meant to put cinnamon) and it didn't really change the taste.
-
Hahahahaha Oh my dear, Ms. Wren! Either it's old or your taste buds are changing.
Yay JunieB for the favorable scan!! Now, don't try to do anymore of the Lara Croft acrobatic or gymnastic moves until you are completely healed. We need to make sure you get your pup in the future.
WildT, just as ShepK mentioned-hope the doctor was just over cautious. You can get abscess on just one side. Hopefully, they can get DS in soon so you can have the answer. I don't think I would be able to sleep if I were in your shoes.
ShepK, behave yourself and benice to FFH.
Aww Susan, the things we endure out of love.
Queenie, I am afraid to ask you what is irregular spaghetti.
-
Loverly ~ Okay... been nice to FF today. Haven't even cussed him out. But then again, it's 6:45 p. m. and I still in the bed...... I am on vacation today 😊
My PCP is awesome but hanging out in the waiting room for almost 2 hours is brutal. Resting my bones in my "marshmallow" bed.....
JunieB ~ Robaxin is good stuff! Slept without "bone spasms" in my hips for the first time in 4 years - Woo-hooo 🌟 Hoping your body is feeling better 🌷
-
Shep - I am so glad the Robaxine is helping you!
Loverly - While the scan shows that the cancer is still stable, keep in mind it also showed that I have either loosening of my hip hardware or an infection. It also described there being a bone sliver either near my pelvis or the femur. I don't remember. I am seeing the Ortho's PA next Monday. Either way, I think I'm gonna end up having more surgery.
I said to my Physical Therapist today that I can't get a puppy if I'm in a wheelchair, and she said, "sure you can!"
-
This is what I'm gonna look like if I can't get my puppy.
-
And This one too!
-
Thanks to everyone who posted to me
Well, I ended up having a good day with the kids, but no clean house, lol! I don't know how that happens. I swear every weekend I'm going to get everything done, it's going to be spotless, and look wonderful. Do I ever get there, nope! Someday
Tomorrow is my bone biopsy (did find out why they are calling it that, talked to one of the nurses, it really is to check the bone). If the bone is soft they will be able to use a needle, if not, they will have to do a core. Neither sounds any fun. I asked her if they would give me something because I tend to have anxiety attacks, and she said, they will give me something to numb the area, and something to calm me down but will not put me out. I wish they would.
Shep, two hours wait is horrid!!!!
Loveroflife, thanks for the info on ibuprofen
I was kind of freaking over nothing
But then...I tend to do that!!!
Talk to you all on the backside of tomorrow.
-
Loverly - How do they make "lightly salted green onion oil"? and where do I get it? What do you use it on besides grilled corn?
Sassy - Did you get suspended again? Until you mentioned it, I didn't know there is some rule about posting the same info on multiple threads. What's up with that?
Jazzy - Is your week still going like crazy?
Having trouble keeping my eyes open, so I'm going to take a nap.
BBL
WildT - Almost 4 days!
-
Gracie, best wishes, mugs and prayers for your biopsy
Don't know if I will get chemo tomorrow. Have a chest cold. Haven't been sick in these almost 6 years of chemo. So actually don't know protocol.
-
Junie, Stinks you have to wait till Monday for more info. Do I hear 5??
Shep, I hate waiting an extended time for Dr's, but 2 hrs is obnoxious! I hope you feel better after being in bed. I have to ask out of curiosity....who is FF/FFH? By context I'm thinking silly name for hubby, but curious about the FF part.
I got an appointment for my DS with an ENT on 8/25. I just hope I get actual answers that day. I fear he will want to take tonsils out and we will not have definitive answers for months. Yesterday I found out the ENT who has been with my kids for 16 years is on medical leave. Today when I made the appointment I was told he won't be seeing patients any more, just administrative stuff. So, seeing a new ENT next week adds to the stress. Sorry I'm being a downer.
Hugs to all!
-
Wren44: time to get more chili powder. or new taste buds. Possibly both. Though that said, oatmeal with cinnamon and chili powder mightn't be as bad as all that.....
Shepkitty: I can't speak for Susan3 but (tearful pathetic lip-quivering) not nearly enough Giant Plates of Normal Spaghetti, servings Of Heroic Proportions lately. But then grandbabies do rather tend to take up one's time, no?
Loverly: It's not irregular spaghetti, it's Normal spaghetti (bog-standard meat/bolognese sauce). I told Susan3 the story, but the short version is--this harks back to my childhood, when my mother went through what was, for the late 1970s, an experimental phase in regards pasta. Nothing terribly exciting by today's standards--canned clams and parsley were moderately avant-garde forty years ago, even in San Francisco--but after several weeks of this, my younger and still significantly less adventurous sister asked demandingly/wistfully, "Mommy, how come we can't have normal psketti any more?"
-
JunieB ~ No! You WILL get your puppy! I just know it! Soo many sad faces 😢 Puppies are "do-able" in a wheelchair, a bit harder, but definitely can be done. I had people of all kinds of abilities in my training classes; wheelchairs, walkers, oxygen tanks.... Hopefully you won't need too much more "down time". (Not gonna even think about surgery) Is the possible infection the same one that you took the antibiotics for in the hospital? Whatever is easiest and quickest to fix - that is what I hope is wrong. In the meanwhile.......Yay you!
-
Gracie, waiting in line right behind Susan to smack the snots out of whomever hurts you. Will be thinking about you tomorrow.
JunieB, it was wishful thinking on my part. Hate the thought of you having an infection in the bone or going through surgery again.
WildT, no worries about sharing your concerns. How else will we know when you need to be comforted or supported? It might just be something benign. Changes can be stressful. I always tell my DD ,who does not like changes, to go with the flow.
ShepK, happy to hear Robaxin is working for you. Today I went with my daughter to her physical appointment that was scheduled at 9:10. We didn't leave until 12:15! Making a patient with severe chronic pain sit for 2 hours in the waiting room seems cruel.
Queenie,
The bones in my legs and back are protesting....self inflicted( too many sets of badminton on Monday).
I'm really sleepy now. Wantto say more, but better stop here. Nite.
