When Did You Color Your Hair post Cold Cap Use?

Options

Hi,

I am 5 weeks post taxol/herceptin, and now on every 3 weekly herceptin.  I used the penquin cold caps and have my hair, though it has thinned on top quite a bit.  I am still washing about once/week only, and am using only warm water and sulfite free shampoo. I still get quite a handful of hair after my washes, and my head feels tender from time to time.  I also let my hair dry naturally, and it looks pretty rough.  I am pretty grey around my ears and hairline, and miss my soft shiny hair that coloring and and hot iron gives me.  A hairdresser I met, says she colored a persons hair 8 weeks post chemo, and she lost much of her hair after. I have also read others have colored with semi-permanent 5 weeks post chemo.  I used a non ammonia, non peroxide temporary rinse last week, but the gray is back.

Please let me know if you used cold caps and how long after chemo you colored, and of course, the results :)

I colored mine about 6 months after but I used regular dye. A lot of people used organic vegetable dye and I think there were people who did it about 2 months post chemo and had great results.

Are you washing it regularly now? Once I started doing that and I had no loss I felt much better. Good luck!
