Charleston Bound, part 2

LOL Sewanee - I love the stuff they have given me last couple times, the Verset - that stuff (if I've spelled it right) makes me forget EVERYTHING right after getting it. DH says I'm still awake and talking but I remember nothing. I thought I went to sleep after getting it - but DH says, nope I talk and talk and talk! Imagine that!?
Hoping we can work it out to get DD to bring Pink to us (probably she won't be able to drive) at Homewood Suites and we can get together?? -
Catie,
I really want to see you all so I will crawl down the street if I have to.
Or just put my car on autopilot for one block. -
LOL - Pink, they also have shuttles from HS - so maybe we could hop on one too!!! OR Deidre could drag me or I her and we could meet you 1/2 way down the block!!!!
You will probably JOG down there!!! (No kayaks allowed on that street I think!) -
Catie, the first time my son (25) wanted to go with me to the doctor & we'd spend the night, I was thrilled that he wanted to spend some time with me. Turned out it was the 2 girls that graduated CLemson and moved on Shem Creek! But, I will give him kudos while I was in hospital, he met them for lunch 2 days, but he stayed with me at night.
-
Well, Ketch, sometimes it's hard getting caregivers!!!! LOL - but with a 25 yr old son and girls close by, you have it made!
I think I said it before, two of my three sons offered to be my caregiver if I needed them. They both are married with two daughters each, but just couldn't wrap my head around prancing in front of them with my lady bits exposed!!! Glad one of the wives (DIL) offered. I think my DIL's husband though felt a bit snubbed. He is flying down on the 10th to go with me to see my dad in hospice in FL. So, that should be good bonding time and without having to let my lady bits be seen!
Its going to be a busy summer in Charleston! -
Pink - if we have to I will hire a car! Just hope we remember whatever we decide to do!
Catie - "lady bits" LOL - reminds me of Bridget Jones Diary (wobbly parts)... -
We truly do have a shuttle, and I think it takes us 5 miles?? So we could go and pick up Pink, and take the shuttle back the HS and then go back with her and back again! LOL -
We better write it down so we remember who is where!!!
I will have a car, it might be at the beach with DD, SIL and Gkids, but will have a car!!!
We will make it work, heck, we are strong, we are invincible, and we have bionic parts now!!!! Or black and blue bionic parts to be!
I can hear the jokes now, 3 flap patients walk down the street.... -
There is a kayak tour on Shem Creek on Saturday, July 12. Anyone care to join me?
😉 -
3 flap patients walking(slowly)down the street, I hear one of them is carrying a water bottle with vodka!!! Oh boy , I was trying to come up with something about which way were they going, couldn't tell cuz they all have butts for boobs! You guys crack me up and it will be so great to be there at the same time. If I know you Pink, a mile or so will not stop you!
4 weeks post op today for me. Nipple hanging in there, has shrunk a bit and I am hoping no more. The black tip is still hanging on but is getting ready to fall off. The nip is a little oddly shaped but I will reserve judgement until it is completely healed.
Have a great weekend everybody -
LOL. Cascade!
-
Cascader -
You made me laugh so loudly that DH just came down to my sewing room to see what was wrong!
You know this could be like one of those camp stories where everyone adds a line to whatever the last person said.
3 flap patients were walking slowly over the IOP connector. One had a kayak paddle, one had a water bottle full of vodka, and one was wearing a nipple protector - slightly askew.
As they crested the bridge a patrol car stopped them. "Ladies, is everything okay - where are y'all staying anyway? You don't look like anyone I've ever seen before." "We're not," replied the one with the water bottle. "We've evolved. We come from a place no one wants to visit, and we're headed to a place most people aren't strong enough to get to." They kept walking, slowly toward the beach, and as they passed out of sight the officer exclaimed, "Still don't know who they were but they were kind of cute!" -
Yes!
Determined, stong, evolved, and cute, they continue to the beach, wondering if they could go topless like the men, it's not as if they had breasts anymore.... or do they? The water bottle is passed around.............
-
As they walked closer and closer to the beach and finally entered the water it was evident to the officer that when the one with the kayak paddle merely grazed the surf she mastered the current with one stroke, the one with the suspicious water bottle floated easily too against the raging rip tide while the the last, with a crazy Tupperware container affixed by duct tape to her chest also floated merrily along - all as IF they had some secret inflatable device securely attached to their chests! WAIT - he thought, by golly they DO..... Could it be? Why YES!!!! It is! They have their BUTTOCK attached to their chests!
The officer then.......... -
LOL!!!
-
The edit was due to dang autocorrect which had it as "tip tide".....sorry if you read it before, I auto/myself corrected it!
-
The officer had a fleeting thought. Could these women be earthly subjects or.......? These thoughts disturbed him greatly, but damn those women were hot.
-
LOL. Cherrie - flashes?
-
Just got my pre op appointment with Dr Kline for Wednesday, July 10, SGAP-Stage 4 surgery. It's on Tuesday, July 9, at 10:00 am. at the West Ashley office.
-
Hi. Kind of quiet around here. Loved the story.. Lots of laugh out louds!,
Pink, looks like you are all set to go. I do hope your family finds a way to give you the support you need. But always remember your bco sisters will be with you every step of the way.
I'm sitting in the dermatologist office waiting to have a biopsy on my lower leg. It's always something. I have been a serious sun lover in the past so will see.
Tired of this nipple dome, summer is finally here and I want to wear cute sundresses .
Happy healing everyone! -
Cascader, I just went through this. I had a pre- cancerous mole and they got it all. My husband wasn't as lucky and today they re-excised his thigh with a 2.5-3 in. incision. His was labeled as severe, pre-cancerous for melanoma. You are right it is always something.
-
Cherrie so glad it was PRECANCEROUS !!!! And not straight melanoma !!! Prognosis okay?
I made my stage 2c for November 15 - in case I need it. 2b in July should be filling in one side to match other - maybe November will be nipples? Cascader would you do the nipples again? Any pain? How long was surgery? -
Cherry glad they got all of your mole, and now hopefully all of your DH's too. Just Hearing Melanoma is Scary. I should know results tomorrow I am guessing . I also had about 10 age spots (, or sun spots as I prefer to call them) burned off on my hands and calves. Told her I want that machine at home!
Catie, I am very glad I got the nipple, no pain because I am pretty much numb everywhere. Protecting them for 6 weeks is not so great but totally worth it IMO.
I think my surgery was a little less then 3 hrs but I had a small revision to butt and also my flap was tightened up and made smaller. They had to flip me at least once maybe twice, that is what I think adds to the length of surgery .
Now just have to figure out tattoos. -
Cascader, you can burn those off at home...I did. My former fiance is a cattle farmer and the bull semen was stored in liquid nitrogen. I tend to be a bit thrifty....so, I dipped a q-tip in and did several!! Same thing the doctor used!!
Seriously, I need to go get a couple places checked. I just hate adding anything else to what I already need to do. I'm due for a colonscopy, too.
The LE is driving me nuts and really acting up. I'm going to the PT tomorrow. My pump is on order. Monday, I go to the oncologist as I had my yearly bone, abdomen, chest scan last week. Fun stuff everyday.
-
Thanks ketch . Where do I get liquid nitrogen? Wasn't sure if it was considered freezing or burning?
I had a full body check, first time, long overdue. Still love the sun but much better about sunscreen.
I know, it seems constant now, tending to the aftermath of this damn bc, not forgetting getting old too. Hope you get relief from your LE under control soon. -
Cascader, I have Mohs surgery scheduled for 6/24 to remove a squamous skin cancer from my chest, right above where I had surgery and where I had rads. It will be my 5th Mohs surgery for skin cancers, but all previous ones have been basal cells. I look like Raggedy Ann, even with my clothes on. I lost one eyebrow to skin cancer surgery, which required a flap. My hair used to cover it, then chemo took not only my hair but the other brow!!! Suntanning as a teen has taken its toll. One doc told me that chemo brings some of these skin cancers to the surface.
It's always something... I'm due for a colonoscopy, too, but at least I'm now on a 5-year schedule. I had to have them annually after I had colon cancer some years ago. -
Yikes!!! I can see a "Spa/colonoscopy/Charleston" section of the Center for Natural Breast Reconstruction next newsletter!!! I wonder if they could combine the SGAP or revision with a colonoscopy??? LOL
I have a problem that I don't think ANYONE on here does. I never have to worry about taking colace, mirilax, etc before or after surgery. Never have a problem at all. BUT when I stop taking the pain meds - waam, I have IBS every day! So, right now I am good to go for a colonoscopy but doubt they would do it because my tummy has been so bad since the 24th of May! Great way to lose weight, but heck on the excercise as I'm never sure when I'll have to run to the bathroom!
I'd be worried had it not happened every time, this is the 4th time. Just hoping it subsides soon. (Dad being in hospice isn't helping - and son #2 is flying in on Monday to drive with me to FL to see him).
But, I too am long overdue for a colonoscopy as well! DH is on a 5 year cycle, and I know I need to. On my 'to do' list when I get back from July surgery.
I do the dermatologist faithfully, but just the colonoscopy is not high on my fun stuff especially with IBS. And SIL is a RN at a hospital in the Gastro Dept.
Cascader you will have to keep us posted about the nipple progress and tats, still on the fence. LIke the Barbie Doll thing I've got going, but don't know if I'd say the same thing down the road. It looks like I have a bra on even without one - so wondering if my headlights on would kill that mode of dress?
Hugs all -
Omg Wave, you have been through a lot! Hoping this is the last for you.
I had dr Kline remove a mole during stage 2 that was located in between my butt cheeks! Tmi?When I was at my pre op and turned around to show him where, my DH says " you have to go deep doc" . Glad they both got a laugh , very embarASSing. But seriously, I now have no modesty at all. I remember after childbirth someone telling me, "if they haven't seen it before they wouldn't know what it is". Lol.
Will keep you posted on the nip Catie. I am a uni, so wanted to be "the same". Have you thought about 3d? -
Yes have thought about 3d and lurk at several of the nip recon forums including Vinnie's. - just can't get DH to give me clear cut preference - may do what needs to be done for symmetry and top fill (do they call that area pole?) and wait to make final decision later.
-
Scheduled stage 2 for December 18th. Chemo starts tommorow, ends September 19th. I am happy I will have something positive to look forward to
Hope everyone has a nice weekend and continues speedy recovery.
The port implant didn't seem to bother the flap. Feeling better every day but gosh you guys who just completed, give yourself time and grace...we had a big surgery. It's good to be kind to yourself! -
CRS,
I'll be thinking about you tomorrow, and wishing you the best that can be through your treatments. Will Dr. Kline remove your port at Stage 2 surgery, or will your local doctor do it?
Hugs and prayers to you, and to your daughter and family for caring for you!
