Where do I fit in?

I was dx'ed with BC in Jan. 2011.  I had a small grade 3 tumor, not easily seem on mammography, but picked up by ultrasound.  I also had 2 palpable nodes, one of which was biopsied when my lump was. I've had a lumpectomy (which will have to be re-excised due to one bad margin) node excision with 7/17 positive, am undergoing 6 TAC treatments 6 week apart, and will have 6 weeks of rads after re-excision.

The reason I don't know where I fit is because my biopsy showed my tumor is only 16% E pos.  My breast sugeon made the statement "although you're not a true TN, clearly there is something other than hormones at play here".  Also, my oncologist has mad no mention of hormonals after chemo.

Should I consider myself E pos., TN, or just forget about lables and do what the good doctors tell me to do?

There is a little bit if debate among doctors about this. One of my tumors was ER+ at 3%, so technically I'm TN. However, my doctor does want me on Tamoxifen, just in case.

I would say you belong wherever YOU feel comfortable! The women here are wonderful and offer great support. But there is also a great Stage III board that I mostly lurk on, and they can offer a different perspective. You will find the majority of TN have few to no nodes, and the Stage III board can give support for that aspect of your situation. So I say, look around, read, and post wherever you feel you'll find the support you need.

    Hugs to you!
