Out of SABCS 2011

My support group facilitator, who is also a nurse (the most dedicated one I have ever met) attends the SABCS conference in San Antonio EACH and EVERY year, and subsequently makes a presentation in one of the conference rooms of our organization.

She is 100 percent pro-conventional treatment, but is also very much into nutrition, and relaxation techniques.

Last year, she was sorry she could not bring us back more "breaking" news about advances in the treatment of cancer from the 2010 SABCS. 

This year, she is bringing us back this blog from Dr. Love, one of the attending doctors:

So there's a drug being trialled to reverse the resistance to tamoxifen. That is good news as I'd choose tam over chemo if I was in the position of having little choice.

Resistance to hormonal therapy may be associated with activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway. Preclinically, everolimus (RAD), an oral inhibitor of mTOR, has been shown to reverse resistance to tamoxifen (TAM).
