I made up my tag line but some people don't get it. Say it out loud, it makes sense. A fork in the road. Are you the road going around the fork, or stopped by the fork? Or, are you the fork in the road that is stopping the forward motion? I really like it and even told my therapist. He was confused until I explained it. Doi!
I wish I could post pics, but last summer when I tried to load some to Facebook it just wouldn't work!! They keep changing the rules on FB and it stumps me. I would normally then copy from FB to here. I will try again....soon....

Sunflowers, Yes, that's where it is. I'm in SW Nebraska on the edge of the white areas. There is somewhat of an uproar around here about the USPS closing small post offices. Some of the alternatives are not very helpful to residents.
Erssa, beautiful skunk! My ex had a pet skunk when I met him. He also had a spider monkey, then a ferret. It should have been a warning sign! LOL.
Sunshine today and I'm feeling good. I'm off for a mini road trip to see if I can find some sandhill cranes to gaze upon. Camera battery is charged and so am I!
Have a wonderful weekend!
(edited to add Target and Red Lobster may also be in my plans. We don't have either in little McCook)

Well everyone..we are packed and ready for the 3 1/2 day drive to Arizona. My art cart is ready for some Plein Aire painting. And so is my camera which is forever by my side. I will share those new paintings when we get back sometime in April. What do you be there will be a lot of Cactus paintings? I am going to go to the big Art Expo in Scottsdale. I never can get enough of that place. There is sooo much talent there I'm in AWWWW. I'm so looking forward to the sunshine and vitamin D that we miss in my park of the country.
You can't cut and paste from Facebook anymore? I'm in trouble now because I never did get the 'photbucket' thing but Facebook was pretty easy except you had to post everything on Facebook to get it to this thread. Take care, and be well all you artists. Hugs, Artsee

Happy trails to you, artsee ( think dale & roy rogers singing!)
cactus - divine - and those views, sunsets, gorgeous sand, stone...
I'm loving reading my book about Sondra Feckleton's watercolor still lifes - inspiring.
-
Barbe, that's so cool. Wish you could sing here!
-
artsee, I can't post to FB anymore!!! If I could, I'd have NO problem posting pics here. Have a great time!! Is there room for me to be a bobblehead in the rear window of your car??
-
lol barbe! A bobblehead....with an MP3 soundtrack of you singing! That would be awesome!!

I am so glad I was able to get out today. I went to the Funk Waterfowl Production Area (really, what a name!) near Funk, NE. No sandhill cranes but a bazillion ducks! It was about 47 degrees and the wind was at least 30 mph. I saw a couple of hawks with their wings outstretched, pointed into the wind, going nowhere. It was beautiful! I didn't take any photographs because I was unwilling to stand in the cold wind today.
Driving home into the sunset, the sun was behind a thin layer of clouds shining through the dust being raised by the wind. The naked trees through that light....just incredible! Made me so happy just to see it.
I hope everyone else had a good day also!

ah, phyllis, thanks for taking us with you on the drive home, I can see the sunset, and not get covered with dust..
what kind of trees - I picture jsut flat, flat, flat when I think of KS, NE. Maybe it's different as far west in the state as you are...
-
Sunflowers, the trees were along the river in the Republican River valley. But you're right, usually not many trees out here. That gives us those gorgeous big skies!
-
I went to the zoo today
-
-
Believe it or not, we have a small zoo here that has a whole TON of flamingoes!! Here's one I took years ago that is on my Facebook site (easy to copy and paste). They are put in a barn for the winter along with the giraffes and monkeys, etc. They play the local rock and roll radio station for company!!!
-
Now that I know that will work, here's my favourite giraffe baby one. Gives perspective on how small a baby is to it's mother....!!
-
Daddy and baby
-
Oh these are so cute!
-
the baby had tried to nurse from the mom, and she shooed him away but the baby persisted, so the dad pushed the baby aside and forced him over to the grass amazing interactions yesterday
-
Okay, in the spirit of baby animals -i.e. cute facotr- here is a photo of my two (now two year old) sheepdogs (border collie-australian shepherd mix bro and sister) when they first came home!
-
So so cute - wish I could post a pic of some young Angus cows we saw on drives this week. They were hysterical, ran all the way across the field chasing a flock of Canada geese out of their pond, even went into the water to move them along. Then they ran to the fence to chase us away, we were in our Suburban. Funny. Would have been the best video. Also spent a lot of time walking at state parks every day.
Oh, yes, the pic of skunk a page back, that is Blossom, she is one of our seven we have had. They were all desaced, eventually anyway. Sequoia, the first was not and he was a rehab gone bad, we got to keep him but he was desaced a bit too late as he sprayed in the house when 5 weeks old, augh! Poor dog, he sprayed her when they were playing. All others were domestic by several generations and were desaced, as it needs to be with domestic skunks.
-
Beautiful photos!!!
-
Druanne, did you change your name? You look like someone else, if not.....
-
LOL....What???No I didn't! Who do I look like?
-
Crap, that was over a week ago and now I have no idea what I was thinking!!!!
-
LOL!!! No worries........I just wanted you to know that I have always been me.........
LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Have a great day!!!!
-
Does anyone else post on the site Wet Canvas - wow, they have so many different threads for different types of art - really a very good source of information. I've learned a lot about different products from them. They have a thread "Art buying addicts" or something like that - made me giggle, I'm not the only one tempted by new "toys."
-
Hard to believe this is still blooming...
-
Gorgeous rose, but why are you surprised it's still blooming?
-
It may be a winter rose
-
I'm still teaching myself watercolor painting - classes, worshops around me a so expensive. And if anyone elase is interested - I find such good books on the subject. Mainly shared by friends also interested in learning.
Just got one I LOVE: Being Bold with Watercolour by Annette Kane. Fabuous pictures, goes into great detail about how she creates the effects she gets. Guess you can tell by the "extra U" where she lives.

Australia? New Zealand? England? Canada? Wales? Ireland? Scotland? Where does she come from????
