Let's Inspire each other to be Creative

Artsee, There isn't a teacher who specializes in watercolor where I'm taking the classes. There are many water color painters in the area, and they do offer classes. I'll eventually find one
Meanwhile, still focusing on drawing, which is also new for me, and looking forward to Botanical Art classes too... SO much to learn - want to do some watercolor workshops - probably will with Susan Tilton Pecorra - have you ever seen her tv program on PBS: Reflections Through Watercolor. I love her work. She lives nearby.

I like to use Photoshop to give photos interesting effects...playing with photoshop is fun!
-
This is PICNIC, from picasa to mess around with photos, it is fun...
-
Blondie I agree! I just bought Elements to have FUN with pics, not to 'improve' them, but to do weird things to them to make people look twice. It'll be obvious that they have been tweaked.
Lisa, what makes that app a Picnic?
-
That app is called Picnik. Flickr uses it and so does Picasa. It is really easy to use and works well.
-
-
Very cool! Except everyone's pictures are going to start to look like that...hmmm.
-
Lisa, it's new to me - reminds me of something else I love, the mandelbrot fractals.
HI, barbe - you have helped me SO SO SO SO much! I'm pretty sure, my Christmas Present is going to be a Janome Magnolia #7318. Still researching, but that seems to be where I'm heading! The only name I knew was Singer, and I was so sad to see ( feel) how plasticky they are now. Well, the "entry" level I'm looking at. My friends who use very ( very) OLD ones love them - a friend also has a Kenmore that's about 40 years old (young) she still uses. But I want one I can take to a class, someday, and find room for in a very very small cabin, so the refurbished old Singers won't do now.
THANK YOU AGAIN
-
OOOh, I'm SO excited for you now Sunflowers!! Woo hoo!! You will have a ball checking everything out. When I got my new machine I did a sample of every stitch it did and pinned it to the wall near my machine to remind me what it could do. Even the simple machines have neat stitches!!
-
VERY COOL, photos. I purchased photo-shop to enhance my photos so I could have something out of the ordinary to paint. Maybe make them somewhat Abstract rather than the traditional painting I usually do. But of course I'm too dumb to learn everything about the program and I can't remember all the steps to do this or that. In other words I'm so NOT a techie and envy people that know their way around a computer in their sleep.
Sunflowers I do not know the artist you mentioned. Did you look up Bridget Austin?
-
Hi, Artsee, Yes, I looked up Austin. Susan Tilton Pecora has a site, Reflections Through Watercolor. Her PBS program of the same name is shown here too. http://www.susanpecora.com/
http://www.wgby.org/localprograms/watercolor/index.html
I haven't done enough work to get the value of an intensive workshop - plus the expense, travel, is more than I want to do now. I like the approach of learning slowly, and using the local resources. Still reading the Jean Dobie book - haven't started the exercises yet...

Here is 'Primping in Settlers Park', which I painted in Plein Air a couple of weeks ago. They were so busy they didn't even look at me.
-
"Primping in Settlers Park', was painted in 'Plein Air' a couple of weeks ago. They never noticed me they were so busy.
-
'Primping in Settlers Park' was painted in 'Plein Air' a few weeks ago. They didn't even know I was there.
-
Well, talk about dumb...I can't seem to get the painting ' copied and pasted off of Facebook.

SunflowersMA; I love this link. It just found it and am a new follower.
Painterly; You are soooo talented!!
Well, I thought I'd post what I've been up to since I finished treatment and I hope some of you might consider participating.
I started a blog while recuperating from my DIEP surgery. Actually, I started on Day 8 because I was climbing the walls.
Anyhow, it dawned on me that there must be other breast cancer survivors who are crafters, seamstresses, artists etc that might want to show their stuff off on my blog.
I don't make any money off of this as it is not a business. I do it only for fun. Crafting was a good respite for me while recuperating. Anyhow, I'm thinking of doing a once a week feature entitled Breast Cancer Crafters that would show only BC survivors arts and crafts. If you are interested in participating, please take a look at my blog http://larissahill.blogspot.com/ or contact me at hmh308@gmail.com
I am open to people who sell their products through Etsy, Ebay or whatever so they can get some exposure and I am also interested in those women/men who just want to show off what they are up to. I do alot of my crafting for fundraising.
If you know anyone who might be interested in joining but may not be on our boards, then just give them my email and we can send them directions on how to participate. In the meantime, I'd love for anyone and everyone to join. I think it would be a wonderful place for BC Survivors to showcase the art.
Fondly, Heather

OMG; There are so many talented painters, photographers on this link. I can't believe it. I plan on sitting here tonight and reading the entire link to see what everyone's been up to.

Hi, Heather
Welcome. I'm looking forward to going to your website. Artsee is having trouble posting photographs of her work - and we laugh, a bit, by pm, cuz I can't even USE the @#%$@$&% Canon SLR Digital I bought just when I was diagnosed - 4 years ago. I am not techy - then had such bad neuropathy I couldn't do mush with my fingers, then, well, finally took a class, forgot everything, and started drawing. SO, as soon as I figure out how to use the camera, I'll post some of my drawings, pastels. Isn't crafts, art work, the MOST amazing therapy.
We have a bc support group that meets a few times a year to learn & do new kinds of craft projects. Women i all stages of "survivorship" and it's the best therapy. Learning a new art form, being with a group of women who so deeply understand what each other are going through.
So, please post some of your pictures here too. thanks, sunflowers

Heather, love the step stool. I've done a lot of painting on old wooden furniture, mostly stuff from people's cast offs, our local dump
An old coffee table that was so stained it couldn't be polished anymore. Have you ever painted Canvas Floor Cloths? That's a great, and easy thing to do, especially for fund raisers. AND, much easier to carry around than furniture!
-
OK this is NOT funny. Since I goofed and thought Sunflower was the tetchy....I'm reaching out to anyone that is some knowledge about posting. I had no trouble posting my last three paintings and all of a sudden it will not post the picture only something I've written with it. I copy and paste from the BIG photo on Facebook like I was told to do...and today it just died. Nothing. Is anyone having trouble getting a picture posted? Thanks and I's appreciate any input. I'd say it was me...but my Hubs isin''t getting either.
-
Sunflowers; I'm hoping to post pictures of whatever anyone creates...well almost anything!!! So when you are ready please send me photos of your stuff and some background on yourself as well including your diagnosis to hmh308@gmail
Please tell all of your friends as well!!! Let's focus on those really living with cancer!!!
If you don't have an Etsy or Ebay store then I might just do a feature on you with your art.

sorry, I do my pictures from my photobucket or picasa web albums and I can't cut and paste them...so i can't help you...I have to go through the whole process
-
this little guy looks like someone covered him in jewels
-
Oh Lisa, he is so beautiful! I love the way he's in such sharp focus and the background is blurred. It gives the picture a surreal, magical feeling.
-
The way i do that is not to get close to something or somebody and use the zoom to get closer, it blurs the background
-
Lisa .. beautiful picture! The humming bird is so pretty!
hugs,
Bren -
I wish I had a vest of those colors..so vibrant
-
Lisa..he is a beauty. Now did you acually take that? We have Ruby Throated Hummers here but I've never seen one like that.
-
yes, I actually took my photos...here is another one
