Taste buds?

I am in the midst of chemo, and of course everything smells bad, and taste is nonexistant or bad.  How soon after you finish chemo do those taste buds come back?

Mine were back about 4 weeks after my final (Taxotere) treatment.

When they were at their worst, I chewed a lot of fruit-flavored gum and made smoothies -- in a blender, throw some frozen banana chunks, other fruit like strawberries or blueberries or pineapple, and add orange juice or milk, and honey or sugar as needed. Also ice cubes to make it cold.
