After Lat Flap Reconstruction

Options

I had both sides done at once a year and a half ago.  I am happy with the result (not perfect, but a darn sight prettier than before - LOL).  I want to share that at 71, I do have trouble lifting things, even a gallon of milk.  And I lift weights twice a week.  I still swim, but not at the level as before.  And I don't have the energy I had before treatments; I have to nap every afternoon.  But at least I'm here, and busy, and enjoying life again.

Hi Martha, glad you are happy with the results of your lat-flap reconstruction.  I too had both sides done over a year and a half ago and I am happy with the results.  I do find that I am not quite as strong as I was before, but going for Physical Therapy helped me a lot with regaining my strength.  The only thing now I can't do is a push-up, because it feels really strange across my chest.

    Keep enjoying life!!

Here is is almost 3 years since my lat flap double breast reconstruction with implants.  I have been rather happy with the results, as I feel the esthetics are as good as can be expected.  I can't lift as much as before, and have to wear a bra night and day to prevent a strange feeling in my chest, though.  I wear comfortable mastectormy bras.  I have developed (don't think I had it before) scoliosis and back pain since the operation - a major curvature of the spine and lower back pain.  Will see my oncologist for a checkup next month.  My research shows that this can be a result of the lat reconstruction.
