Hi all, checking in with my favorite group. I am scheduled for colostomy surgery Thursday, please say a little prayer for me. I know it's no easy surgery, but hopefully will be able to eat solid food again. The surgeon is going to drain my ascites, also. I have been pretty miserable the past few weeks. I am anxious to get this behind me so I can get back on chemo. Seems like all we do is put one fire out after another!

I look forward to getting back after a few days to see Lisa's great pictures and hearing the rest of everyone's chatty news.

Wilsie keeping my fingers crossed and sending prayers that all goes well with your surgery and recovery. You are quite right, one fire is contained and another begins but the main thing is, we are still around to keep on trying to put them out.

How are you doing Leah? I sure hope that you are on less rocky ground for a change.

Lisa you bird pics are fabulous! That Pelican shot caught as it hit the water is stunning!

Aly, you take it easy and rest so your pain can calm down somewhat.........gardening is not going to allow that to happen. By the way, love seeing all your flowers that were only small, blooming and showing off all their glory.

Tomboy (I know you changed your name but for the life of me I can't remember what from!). Yes, as Lucy says, that story is really not true....lol......and I do know that not all Aussies know it. It really does make you wonder as it sounds sounds so fantastical!.........lol.

Lucy I have had a wonderful time with the boys but am very glad to be finally home and sitting quietly........I am really bushed!!! Good thing the tennis is on as I am really happy to sit and watch that.

Lol Nancy, there is definitely a problem when you have a program that can find things but the official finder is lost.........sure hope you can find your phone so you can set it all up.

After eleven years I have decided to once again look at the possibility of recon. I have an appointment with one of the leading recon docs here in Adelaide on the 31st March to discuss. I am really feeling both excited and scared at the same time, excited because it could be a go and scared that it won't.........bit silly really but I'm really hoping that I can. I will go in with an open mind and that way I won't be too disappointed.

Looks like a huge year coming up with loads of change, not just with me but with some members of my family as well..........my eldest daughter starts a new job in about three weeks and in the mean time is attending a fast track course to finish her qualifications as a Hypnotherapist and councilor and second daughter is once again starting her prep to compete to hold her bodybuilding title later in the year.

    Take it easy all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Welcome to those of you who are new!  I'm just getting able to read and post a bit after the flu so I'm behind.

Wilsie, prayers are with you for your surgery and aftermath tomorrow.  Please keep us posted as you are able and know we're thinking of you.

I sincerely hope none of you get this flu---a really evil beast of a flu to be sure.  I became ill on New Year's Day and am just now beginning to feel like myself again.  In NC alone, there've been almost 100 deaths.  DD (6 months pregnant) has it now and is doing well taking Tamiflu.  The main problem with the recovery is the fatigue.  You think you can do this or that and wind up exhausted, so taking it slowly is required!   Fortunately cleaning the house ranks low on my list of priorities!

Thanks for the prayers and good wishes. No complications during surgery, other that they were not able to do it laproscopily. Two full days, I have been sitting in chair some. old bodies take longer to heal, but I will be patient. I have eaten very little, but am building up to it. Thanks again for your prayers and well wishes. Wilsie

Wilsie so glad that all went well and Boo on it not being able to be done Laproscopically........just take it easy, do as you are told (yeah, I needed to say that as we all tend to ignore good advice) and let the healing begin. Here's hoping the way back to real food won't be a long one.

    Love n hugs girlfriend!

I'm just being a slug and sitting around watching the tennis and playing on my puter so nothing nothing much happening here. It is Australia Day tomorrow so there will be a BBQ over in the park beside the creek so the peace and quiet will be broken and I will more than likely be over there breaking the peace and quiet too......lol.

I have finally been able to get back to knitting the silk lace shawl for my eldest DD. I got it two thirds done and then all the hooha of the other DD's wedding took over. It had been so long, I had forgotten where I was up to in the pattern so had to unpick stitch by stitch for a couple of rows to get back to where I could recognise what was happening........that too me ages as each row is 400 stitches! Won't be forgetting again in a hurry I can tell you.....lol. I think at this point I will be sticking to it and getting 'er done!

Take care all you lovelies dealing with snow and all you lovelies dealing with sunshine!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Just jumping in to say hello, and that ocean photo makes me want to move closer to you,SoCalLisa! Not that Ventura isn't that bad, the nearest beach to me.

Wilsie, really do hope your recuperation is short, but thorough.

ChrissyB, I was kathec, and you talked me down from the ledge several times on the "if you are not stage 4 but have questions" category, late at night here in the states anyway. I did see that shawl you are working on somewhere, white isn't it, and airy as a web?

I just realised, I am not THAT old, but at least I am getting older! But, sad to say, not sure if I qualify as to having any sense!! Heya, Lucy55.

Oh Kath, yes now I remember......lol. I knew you had changed your name but I couldn't for the life of me remember what from.......thanks for refreshing my memory! Yes, that shawl is the one I am doing and as 'light as a web' is a really good way of describing it. Kath no matter your age, you are welcome to hang here anytime you want!

    beautiful photo, lisa.

I've got to figure out somewhere warm to go for a bit. It is getting to be too much to get on the boots and hats and gloves every time I leave the house.

I am still in the midst of making decisions about the house. It is getting sorted out, but looking at cabinets and appliances for the kitchen.

Here is a pic from my DD's house. We finally got the railing and the shelf for the microwave in today. The guy who is making the brackets got picked to get a reality tv show made about him. He makes huge swords (based on video games) so he got very busy with the show and our project got put on hold. It really makes the place look so much more finished.

Wilsie, I hope your healing continues with no unpleasant surprises.

PET/CT tomorrow. My TMs have been rising A LOT so I don't expect good news from the scans. I'll let you know.

Nancy that little house is looking amazing! I love the railing for the stairway and above.........it's shame that it took so long but cudos to the guy who made them for getting recognition for his work with the swords.

Are you girls having an extra cold winter? I ask as we are having an extremely cool summer, it's more like spring and we are sleeping under blankets! Really weird as at this time of year we normally have the air con going full blast and sleeping under just a sheet as it's too hot to do anything else.

Leah I am keeping my fingers crossed that your scans are not as bad as you think. Do let us know when you find out........it's never nice to know that there is a possibility of progression.

Wilsie I'm hoping that each day that passes you are improving and are beginning to be able to eat solid food again.

I had to stop being a slug today and travel over to Port Pirie for the monthly meeting of the area BC group. Seeing as how I needed also to do some food shopping I decided to do it there. What a great idea as Pirie is a fairly large town and so the supermarkets are really good with the range of products so once again my fridge, freezer and pantry are full. Must admit that right now I am having difficulty keeping my eyes open so I will say good night all!

Love n hugs to all. Chrissy

well chrissy, it certainly is cold today. But overall been a kinda normal winter. I know what you mean about getting to the "big" grocery store to get stocked up. My DD and I joined the hordes yesterday cleaning out our local grocery store in preparation of the "historic" storm.

We've got a blizzard going today. Snowing about an inch an hour and the wind is a howling. The dog doesn't even want to go outside.

The power was out overnight but came back this morning. My home phone and internet aren't working yet. So I got out my verizon jetpack and kindle fire. It's nice not having all the tv noise blaring away. I have a new jig saw puzzle to get started on, so I am snug.

Leah, I'm with chrissy hoping the scans aren't too horrible.

Well I was trying to upload a photo but it's tricky on this little tablet.

Nancy, I'm sure if you had thrown the ball your Cinder would have found it snow or no snow......lol. Thanks for posting the pic!

home from hospital, had 48 hours of non stop throwing up. I thought they were going to have to take me back, have never been so sick. It let up today, thank God, now back to the healing of the colostomy. It's been an ordeal.

Anyway, the snow pictures are beautiful. I will check in more, now that I am getting back on my feet. Blessed DD has cared for me, what would I do

Oh, Wilsie, how horrible for you. I'm so glad you're home now and doing better. Kisses from me to your wonderful DD.

You know how people say "Dress for Success"? Well, yesterday I "Dressed for the Test". I had my PET/CT. So.... they don't ask you to wear a gown, they just say "no metal". So I wore the only skirt I have without a zipper. And no turtleneck (I wear them all winter) since my port was being accessed. And, instead of regular warm tight (another thing I wear all winter) I wore footless tights and socks in case they refused to use my port for the scan (arms are off limits). I used to be a Girl Scout so I know all about "Be Prepared"! So I got to the hospital, went to the Onco Day Center to have my port accessed and blood tests (not for scan), Then downstairs to PET/CT dept. "Oh, we don't use ports!" Um, they were used for the last 2 scans I had there but I knew there might be an argument. I said, "Arms are off limits, has to be my foot. And I have hand-foot syndrome from Xeloda". They looked at my foot while I said, it hurts to walk, needle in the foot is painful, whine whine whine. Tech played "not my decision" and called the doc. Careful lady, checked the length of the tube, checked that Onco knew they had to remove needle (well, yeah) and then said OK. And then she wrote in my file in PET/CT dept that my port is to be used! So no arguments in the future. The funny thing with the HFS for me is that my right foot is far more affected by it than the left. So of course while they were deciding if they should use my foot I showed them the right foot. My mama didn't raise any stupid children.

Results next week. I'm pretending not to be worried. It's not working.

Oh Wilsie! You poor girl! Thank goodness for your DD and she deserves a hug or three from me for standing with you. I do so hope that you can truly start the good healing process now..........and you know how we feel about you popping in more, we love it!!!

Leah, an old Girl Scout for sure......lol.......but don't you hate having to be that prepared! I understand the hooha when finding an entry point for PET/CT, as I have the same problem. Veins so fine they won't stand the pressure (and even the docs can't find a good one) and feet that are the same and no port! I now refuse the contrast and hope for the best. Still keeping everything crossed that you results are better than you think.

Still being a slug in front of the tele, thank goodness the tennis finishes on Sunday evening! Maybe come Monday I will be able to get a few things done......lol.

    Love no hugs all! Chrissy
