Gumby, also hurricanes, etc. I lived on St Croix for six months and definitely "rock fever" can occur. I think that if I were serious I would give it a year going through all the "seasons" I know its always 82 but you know what I mean before I purchased anything.
-
My DH was stationed there for two years..Hawaii that is And they called Island fever back then...it happens..
-
hi everyone! Barbe: it's so good to hear you again.. im still ill, and haven't been around much, but i gather you've been missing, also. we have so many ailments in common, but seem to deal with them, the same.. i also use a walker . one with brakes, and a wheelchair now, almost always, for distance.. im so used to them, it doesn't faze either i, or DH.. we DID have a problem with Marybe when she was here.. she walked behind the wheelchair, behind DH, so i never heard a word, nor coulod talk to her.. after awhile, and some explaining, i got her to walk beside me.. she was worried we were taking too much room.. too bad, i gotta live, too.. Go around!!!
i also have drop foot from the ms, so hence the walker.. i have to lean on the wall now, to put my pants on. Pathetic!!but, im still walking, so i can't complain..
so, here's my last 2 days.. yesterday, to the ent.. he was horrified! i had blood work done by my EX gp last week, and the nurse called to tell me to pick uop Lipitor at the chemist.. not.. its contraindicated for muscle problems, which i def have.. but, no mention of my diabetes.. so, i think its' ok..
the ent; who i adore as you know, tells me my A1
C is so high, i should be hospitalized.. He didn't know why
Gp didn't out me in the hospital.. obviously, im glad he didn't..my thyroid is getting better, but no change in the symptoms, so he thinks now its the diabeties..
i promised him id go on a strict diabetic diet, and quit fooling around.. he said, no, its not your eating (but some of it is..) its your meds.. told me 2 new meds i should be on.. so, its look for an endo again,, the one i have now, i a joke, and obvy the gp is no better. so, we'll see how that goes..
i had the best one at cleveland clinic ( you know Kaara) he'd say he wanted to see me in two weeks, but they couldn't get an appot for 2 months.. geesh..
After THAT good news, the ent tells me "there's no time like the present" i'm going to remove the permanent tube i put in your ear two years ago( the one that keeps getting infected) he thinks it'll stay open by itself, after all this time.. if not, he can pout another one in, as i have the place for one drilled into the bone.. so, off to the surgery room i go!ouch!!!
but, beter that way, then sitting around wondering.. he sched, me for the last yesterday, which makes me think he planned on it ahead of time. he knows me, and knows i'd be a wreck waiting..
in bed early, the drugs sent me for a loop..
today was the uro, and i ended uo having a us (no biggie) and a catherization.. he found white cells (infection) but no red cells.. he thinks its odd. so, a culture, then anti bs; then a real check of the bladder. he thinks the sling to hold the bladder up may be failing.. oh joy..
at least i know he's good, and will get to the bottom of it. he also said that's probably why i've been fighting infections left and right.. and not to go too crazy about the diabetes, since i have at least three, maybe 4 infections going right now.. its been a tough 2 days!!!
but, i get to see Fischer tommorrow, and that'll be my reward. DH works with a guy who's daughter is five tommorrow, and he wants mur to bring the kids.. i said no to finley, its at "chucky Cheese" and i can't keep track of both of them there! Fischer listens to ME, so i know i can handle him,i told my son id take fin out to dinner at burger king, for the ball crawl next week, to make it up to her.. she'll be thrilled.
thats Quite enough for me for awhile..
Chrissy, im so happy to nhear you're still dancing with ned..
mac, i sent an email, hope you got it.. we don't get the hummers here, but my mom had one alwys art the window in west tisbury...
i know im missing a lot of yu, but i gotta lay it down...
let me know how the esto works for you, chrissy.. i got offerred vagifem last week, but im afraid to use it.. it would be nice to be able to WALK comfortably, though...hahaha
love to yu all..3jays
-
saw this today, and thought of all of you..haaha3jays
-
LOL (moving a dead body) 3 jays, i'm sorry you are having such issues, but glad you get to go play with the kids. I did not see an email, yet. I'll send another so you have my address again.
Barbe I've missed your humor also, so glad you're "back".
we have the "stuck on the rock" syndrome here. Even tho we are only 7 miles off the coast, you can only get there by boat or plane. This time of year it is really hard to get a boat reservation to get a car off island. We really need to plan ahead for trips. If it is really windy, the boats and planes don't run.
Speaking of trips, I have never been to CA or the left coast of US. Since I am not working, it might be time to plan a trip. Hopefully I will be getting some energy back one of these days.
Kaara, is there anywhere you have not been?
I had a long phone conversation with sas today. She gave me some really great advice about how to advocate for myself with my docs about my lung issues. She encouraged me so much. I would really like to have some definitive diagnosis, instead of just throwing meds at it.
My brain has stopped working for the night so I will wish ya'll sweet rest and peace.
-
3jaysmom, I'll bet it's the infections making your blood sugar so high. I had a friend who was getting a knee replacement. His pre-op blook sugar was 500 and they popped him into the hospital. He finally got it down enough for the operation. Once they cleaned the infection out of his knee, his blood sugar went down and never went up again. My niece has a real problem with her sugars when she's ill, also.
-
gardengumby - I live in Raleigh, NC and have plenty of room if you and your DH want to come stay awhile. We are 2 hrs from the mountains and 2 hours from the beach. Weather normally is mild both summer and winter, however this past few weeks we have broken all records for heat and so we are hoping that winter does not set new records for snow!
-
Ah 3jays, quit trying to upstage me in medical distress!!! I give up! You win...hehehehehe
Wren, very interesting about infection raising blood sugar. I did not know that! 3 jays, did you catch that point?
I have high blood pressure and am on meds for it for the last 19 years. I'm always amused when a new doc takes my bp and says "your bp isn't high". Well, duh, I take MEDS for it, idiot!!!! EVERY frigggin' time!!!!
-
Barbe, the same thing happens to me with BP...
-
Lisa, isn't it STUPID??? Like, if my bp was high still, wouldn't I be in the proess of adjusting my meds?????
-
these aren't rocket scientists we are dealing with barbe...
-
barbe, it's so nice you are back with us.
Isabella.
-
My son is type 1 diabetic and every time he has an infection his BS goes up ( his bloodsugars too
) so there is deffinatly a connection
-
My mother and brother are both type 1 diabetics and also have the same problem when there is infection in the body. Another thing that interferes with the levels are steroids. Just recently my mother was put on Prednisolone and her sugars sky rocketed..........needless to say she stopped taking them and told the doc to stick them where the sun doesn't shine. Love that fiesty attitude......lol....she's 88 and has been a diabetic for about 35 years.
-
So why don't all the hospitals KNOW this?????? Why do we have to be our own medical experts??? (Because we do it so well??)
-
I suspect sometimes it is communications, especialy in this age of specialists. Often the patient forgets to tell a Dr every medication she is getting from another Dr or condition being treated by that other Dr. Or the Dr skims rather than reads that lovely check list we fill out at every visit that asks about any new condition, med etc.

Thats a good question Frankly, I am weary from all I have had to research. It is true that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
If I had more confidence in my DRS covering my a$$, I dont feel I would have to go to Dr google so much.
-
Barbe, glad you're back!

Hi all
Feeling a bit better after a nasty dose of flu, thank goodness. Life seems to be have been busy especially with DGD with chiken pox. Granny baby sitting has been called on a lot. Last week I had to finish a skirt for DD1 who is singing with the NZSO in Der Valkyrie so that took some time to get it sitting right. Then this weekend my US cousin arrived so it has been great to see her and her DH.
Other cousins are coming over soon for a late afternoon tea. That is tea/coffee, cakes and biscuits.
As of today I stop the femara. Have been on a 5 year trial for side effects. Anyway I am rather scared about stopping but onc says at least we have it if its needed which doesn't make me too happy.
Will write more later.
Big hugs
-
Alyson..I finished up with arimidex six years ago now..I felt the same ways
-
Alyson I am almost three years into my five with Femara (Letrezol now) and will be interested to hear what changes you feel when you no longer take it. I have great plans for improvements.
-
Hi goils!!! Phew!!! It's almost midnight and I have just arrived home from returning GS #3 home to his mom! I'm bushed and am looking forward to having a good sleep in in the morning. He tells me he had a ball and asked (on the way home...lol) when we were going to do it again.
Barbe it's a real pain that we have to be our own advocate when it comes to our health. When I had the clot from the kee replacement and then the alergic reation to one of the meds, the doc roused at me for not listing everything I was allergis to........boy, did I see red and put him right in his place with the comment.....'well if the doc who told me I was allergic to penicillan at the time because people did not get reactions to Pulmacourt I would have listed the correct drug.' He did apologise eventually but I was damn mad!
Aly so glad to hear you are finally over all te sickness as well as the grands. Hope everything goes well with you being off the Femara...........hopefully you will feel a whole lot less aches and pains.
Got to go make a cup of tea and relax so I can get some sleep.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy
-
Barbe, glad to see you back!
Chrissy - good that you had such a good time with GS. Hope you get some good rest.
Isabella, I hope you haven't floated away. Please have the British govt put in a pipeline to the parched US, right away and send us your excess water. We need it!
Had a nice bday this weekend. DH took me on a lovely drive over the mtns to Quincy on the east side of the Sierras, where we had a nice lunch, then drove home on a road we'd not previously travelled - pretty, with long Sierra vistas. But smoke from a fire south of us blurred the air, so no pix. We're talking about taking the route again, after the fall rains have begun & before snow closes the road for the winter....good photo op.
Today is gardens, tomorrow town. I have to take the rabies info to animal control & get a new dog license. I felt like the traveling vet was the best birthday present!!
Have a good day all...
ps - thanks for the advocating reminders, - the allergy thing is one I let slide with docs...
-
Thanks for all the 'welcome backs'!! It makes me feel good to be missed.
-
Believe us barbe, you were "much missed"!
-
Elisimo - thank you so much for the offer - you never know, I might take you up on it.... BTW, are you a sewing person? I ask because your username is the name of a sewing machine I'm familiar with. (I'm a sewing person, who has waaayyyyy too much fabric stored.
-
chabba, when you put someting "in quotes", to me that means what you're saying means something "else". Anyone else feel the same way??
Gardengumby, as a previous quilt store owner, I'm here to tell you that you can NEVER have enough fabric!!
-
To be honest, I'm in agreement with you - but my husband certainly doesn't agree - on the other hand, he's of the opinion you can NEVER have too many fishing lures (or poles, or reels).....
-
barbe, so sorry, not what I meant. It is difficult for me to express emotions, sometimes I try unconsciously to downplay them. The more deeply meant the more apt I am to fall into the say something stupidly trap. I try not to and honest I am not really stupid.
-
Chabba, Don't feel bad. I didn't know about quotes either.
I went to a Christmas fair and 2 women had made book marks and gift cards out of quilt fabric scraps. I thought, OMG there is no such thing as a piece of fabric small enough to throw away.
I also went through my fabrics, looking for something specific, and thought, why did I ever buy this and whatever for?
