Kaara, after my diagnosis, I got all my lead fillings switched out to white ones. Took a couple of years as I was using a dental plan and got work done until it topped out for the year. Has your BF had the opportunity to do that?

All you quilters...sigh. I can't sew a stitch but want to learn. Next decade maybe? Don't have time right now. Or space. I make jewelry, and I can just see myself going nuts in the fabric store like I have the bead shows. Shiny and pretty, I'm like a magpie!

Heading off to New Orleans today for DH's conference. Finally, a trip to NOLA where I get to play, not see a doctor or have surgery. Most liberating!!!

barbe:  No, he hasn't yet, but it was strongly suggested.  He has to use a dentist that knows how to remove the mercury fillings properly or he could end up with a worse result.  Thanks for the suggestion.

Anne, I am a quilter AND a beader!! You should see my craft room!!! I embellish the wall quilts or garments that I make using beads, ribbons and other 'things'. Consider rolling all your loves into one!!! I go nuts in the fabric stores for colour and pattern. Beads, I go for colour and bling! Then I put them all together and win ribbons!! I LOVE ribbons!!! I've won all the way from "Viewers Choice" to "Best of Show"!!! I even won in a 'normal' art show. The other artists were horrified that a fabric piece won first place! That was a defining moment for sure!

At the Southern Highlands Craft Show in Asheville last summer I saw some absolutely georgous quilting done as wall art.  I couldn't afford to buy it, but it was so beautiful to look at.  I told my girlfriend who does quilting that she should consider doing it as wall art and selling at shows.  She does beautiful work, but only gives it as gifts to friends and family.  It would be a good income for her since she needs to work to support herself now that she is divorced.  Barbe, I would love to see pictures as well!

Welcome Anne and have a great time in NOLA - lots of bright shiny stuff there for inspiration for your jewelry.  Yep, fabric stores are the same - I still have material bought years ago because it "spoke" to me.....

I'm sewing again today - a bias cut skirt.  Should be interesting, and I hope it works - and fits ok.  Am about to morph to things that simply hang off my shoulders - "shifts".  No worries about fit.

Alyson, have you got the results of your scan yet? or did I miss that post?  Hoping it is something that can be easily rectified.

Well, after my trip to the city, the doc has now put me on a statin as my cholesterol has started to rocket........thank you very much Femara.  I don't have many SE's from it but I sure got that one  .... grrrrrrr!   He's put me on one called Crestor and says that it is one of the 'light weight' ones as he knows how tricky my system can be with some meds...............I'm hoping the 5mg that he px will do the job so I don't have to go to the 10mg................gosh, if it's not one thing it's another, it never seems to end.  I know I'm getting older and these things do start to occur but I sure do hate it and it makes me feel like my mother!

The back pain, as I suspected is indeed from when he gave me the jab in the butt.  He got pretty close to a major nerve and it is irritated...........yup, you heard me right, a nerve got irritated coz a needle got too close............well I would just like the irritation to go now as enough is enough!......lol.......I must say, my doc was all appologies to have caused the problem.   He is such a sweety and is usually the best at giving the jabs.

Saturday was a fabulous day!!!  DD's took me to a wonderful vegan restaurant called 'Bliss' for lunch and the food lived up to the name.......it was pure bliss in the mouth!  From there we went to the theatre to see 'A Chorus Line'.  It was a two hour show that ran straight through but it was so good it only seemed like a half hour and it was all over.  The dancers were just amazing and made the difficult moves seem so easy and their voices were just marvelous!  If I were writing a critique, I think I would run out of superlatives!.......lol.  I love a show that leaves you wanting more and that is the best critique any show can get.

I was due to drive home on Sunday morning, but the weather was waaaaaay toooooo hot so waited with DD1 and left just on dark when the worst of the heat had gone.  So  now this week will be just as busy as DD2 and her partner are arriving on Wednesday night to spend a few days with us.  I keep thinking about getting into my craft room but so far it just hasn't happened.........I'm hoping I can start doing something after the weekend........we shall see.................

Chissy, I am glad your Sat. was so enjoyable.

We have lots of snow on the ground here, makes everything look so pretty. I have been putting out lots of seed for the little creatures and birds. Luckily no bears or anything around here!

I am off to the city today to meet with MO and BS. I will get the path report and make a treatment plan, so hopefully more peace in my mind and spirit.

Alyson, one of my friend's DH has a lot of biz in NZ and they go there often.  Recently they've caused a furor in our backwoods neighborhood with a big sign at their driveway entrance: "All Blacks."  The women at book club were wondering what was up (apparently there were all sorts of crazy rumors circulating) - I told them I was pretty sure it was the NZ soccer or cricket team.  Was I right?

Barbe that work is just divine.

LC you are almost right the All Blacks are our national RUGBY team. They won the World Cup which was in NZ September October. (And by the way it really was 'world' unlike some others which are USA and Canada) Unusually for Kiwis we became very patriotic and had all the flags out and there were huge signs saying GO BLACK.

Just to add the soccer team are the All Whites, the cricket Team are the Black Caps and we even call our basketball team the Tall Blacks, Netball- Silver Ferns - the womens teams use the name 'ferns'

Chrissy I had scan and not sure what to do, will discuss it with BS on Wednesday. It is not the rotator cuff but what they can see is thickening of the bone on the head of the humerus. PT has said I should see specialist but will get BS's opinion on who. I see her tomorrow- Wednesday.

Have any of you heard of this in the shoulder?

Must fly as Playgroup starts today and I have a car load of soft toys and all the dress ups as well. My kitchen has looked wonderful with all these toys on a clothes rack, didn't hang them on the line which was graced with lots of little frilly skirts etc.

Barbe, absolutely beautiful!  I like to do this kind of "thread painting" also and have done a few things.  The pink one that makes trees is especially neat!  Did you do the beading?

Nancy I hope your appointment with both the MO and BS went well and you now have a better idea of what comes next for you.   (((((((Hugs))))))) I know it all sound just tooooo scary, but you can do what ever needs doing...........one step at a time.

Alyson, if your shoulder is causing so much pain and the docs are satisfied that it is nothing nasty, they may suggest a shoulder replacement.  Sounds terrible but I know a few people who have had it done and they all say it was the best thing ever!  Your BS will probably send you to an Orthopeadic Surgeon.  Good luck with you visit with the docs!

Just another lazy (although I should be busy) day for me as it's still HOT, HOT, HOT! with no relief in sight ..........yuk!!!!  Thank goodness for airconditioning!  I think I'll just sit and enjoy the tennis.

Like Chrissy I have been watching the tennis - I am so exhausted from all that physical activity.

Intend to get out into the garden later when its a bit cooler. Here we are complaining that we haven't had any summer and now its arrived don't go out in it. Have several garden projects planned but they should probably wait awhile until almost autumn but planning is fun. DD wants me to help her with her garden tomorrow so will do that in the afternoon. At least its on the shady side of the house.

Must see what is happening with the tennis.
