I purged 7 boxes of Christmas decorations down to 1 box.  It was a KILLER - sitting on the LR floor crying over the history of every single ornament.  However I have one son who is not sentimental.  And he's an adult & hasn't been her for Christmas in 20 years.  (although I have been there)  There's a chance that he'll open one box & look at what's inside.  With 6 boxes - they would have gone directly to the dumpster when I died.  Saved some pieces to send to nieces & nephews this Christmas.  Gave a bunch to a friend who makes wreaths for all seasons.  Maybe I'll mail my son a few every year with little notes about their history.

Great idea about sending a few ornaments with notes about the history.

Blessings - That portable air conditioner was what I thought would help my upstairs. It gets cool but the downstairs has to freeze to do it. Well my old crank wrought iron windows could not be converted to let out the exaust. I was so upset. Wish I had regular windows but the house will be sold next yoear I hope so why bother.

I have promised half my furniture to friends and family when I get ready to list the house in the spring. I am only keeping enough for a 1 bedroom condo. Anything else I will buy when I get there. When I moved from Ca to Mi I brought everything from my 2 bedroom apt. Cost me 2,000 to move it. Never again. Keep a few pieces to put in a uhaul and that is it. I even have the plants all promised.

Once that BT arrives, Bunkie, maybe you two can go into hyperdrive and get that thing listed this summer.  If it doesn't sell until spring, so what?

OK ladies - still working, if not quite as quickly.  My son was down again when had a new roof installed.  While he was here, we emptied most of the attic.  My ex saved lots of building materials - gone.  I saved the copper tubing to sell since the prices are so good here.  Roofers & gutter company took everything else.  All the old camping stuff - staged for going.  Even old power tools that I will no longer use - gone to teens in the neighborhood.  Can't remember if I mentioned the framed prints.  So far I have 73 pictures ready to go next Monday.  It helped that the roofing company suggested I take everything that was important off the walls in case the pounding dis-placed.  So I'm finally just hanging things that were "in waiting" - waiting for me to patch & paint, waiting for me to decide what to keep.  Very liberating pounding more holes in the walls.

Took 9 reel to reel movie films to Costco to be put on DVD while their sale is in progress.  I will get 10 or 12 video 8 movies to Costco for transfer before the end of the month.  I understand from reviews that these aren't the best quality, but I just want to have the family memories in a form that I can easily see.  No - we won't discuss the pictures & negatives.  I was pretty good about putting photos in albums until my son graduated from hi-school in 1982.  The problem is he is an only child so I saved every single picture - good, bad or otherwise.  Everything after that is in the envelopes in boxes & bags.  Sounds like a good winter project - but it's been on the list for a bunch of winters.

    Happy sorting!!!

My kids were here this weekend--tons of leftovers!  I've been "decluttering" the refrig by eating everything.  Gained five pounds.  This kind of decluttering is soooo satisfying, but maybe today I'll clear out the freezer so some of that stuff can go in there rather than in me!

Brookside - great image.  Seems we never stop "cleaning the plate" for our kids.

Teka - Seems like my spices are always getting old.  It was better before I knew that was a problem.  They always seemed to work fine.  I know for a fact that my Mother never tossed & replaced, but then she baked a LOT so maybe they were regularly rotated.  Are you able to go to a Penzeys?  Such a treat to smell all the spices.

And that get's me on my hobby horse.  It is such a shame that most people don't understand the dates on food.  The cans & boxes are "best used by" NOT "throw away by".  It's my understanding that the product will be "at it's peak" by that date, but certainly fine to eat for much longer.  Cans used to be good until or unless they got dented or started leaking, so....  It's a real shame that none of the food banks or churches will take donations that are past the stamped dates.  Think of all that food just bring thrown away when people are going hungry.  Sorry - it really bugs me.

Well my BT is here for 4 mos so I am decluttering again. More clothes, got all my old posters ready to go. Pictures for the walls....gone. Nick nacks....gone. 2 containers left of southwest S and Ps. Anyone want any of those I will be happy to send. Otherwise they go to my family reunion next year to be auctioned. I keep finding stuff. Basement cleaned out about 2/3. It is going well.
