I'm joining the Club
Hi Ladies: Officially joining the club today, definitive diagnosis this morning at 8:30 am from my BS, IDC 1.7 cm, intermediate stage. I will be receiving hormonal results and treatment plan on Wednesday.
What an emotional rollercoaster this ride as been. In 7 days my life has been turned upside down. Feels as though I am in a nightmare and cannot wake up, only I'm not sleeping very well.

Hi Deb,
Sorry you have to join us here, but welcome. This is a great place for support and information. I was diagnosed about year ago, and though it seems impossible right now, you will get through this. Once you get your treatment plan, you will have lots of questions, so come back often. Things will get easier, but it is hard to get through the first bit, for sure. Take a deep breath! Blessings & hugs.

Hi everyone, had lumpectomy surgery two weeks ago Grade III Stage I. 31mm and SN Biopsy (clear). Waiting now to find out if i have chemo before the radiotherapy. It's good to know that people are out there with their guiidance and support. Live in rural ireland, so quite isolated.

I am just getting started with this too. Found out yesterday about having chemo due to Onctotype score of 28. All else was good. I am very upset and did not sleep well. I do hope it gets better. Just ready to get on with it and over with it.

Hi, Deb. Sorry you have to be here. I "officially" joined last Thursday after my bi-mx. Will meet the oncologist on Wednesday to discuss treatment. Get my port put in on the 28th. Kind of feel like I'm moving down a conveyor belt, LOL.

Welcome to all. I'm truly sorry that we have to meet this way too. When I used to be worried about skin color and differences and what other people thought about me and dealing with stereo types of all sorts of kind. I have learned that the true meaning of similairities is when you share a common thread. Today I know that it has been my ignorance that has allowed me to keep silent. Today breaks the silence . Today I stand on the backs of others that have lifted me to a higher calling in my own life and the daughters that I will educate, inform, inspire and empower to take control of their own lives by being responsible consumers of healthcare.

Deb: Sorry you have it too! We are here for you though. This board will be your sanity. I started my journey in December so I am a few months ahead of you. My advice...ask for a sleep aid now! I use something every night because I never slept. It has helped so much. Ask your doctor about something to help you sleep. All of this is emotionally and physically stressful and exhausting. You need to rest your body to get through it all. I was the kind of person that never took aspirin for a headache...now if there is a med that will eliminate an issue of mine, I take it! Hugs!
Sweetcorn: I am sorry about the chemo...I understand. I have round #2 tomorrow. Join us under the chemo board called March 2011 Chemo Lounge! THere is a great group of gals going through chemo together. They are fun and supportive. It is helping me manage sanity, side effects and knowing what to expect. Just so you know, my first round was not that bad. I am also doing cold caps to save my hair..I am 20 days out from my first chemo and have not lost any hair on my head yet. I have hope! Good luck and hugs!

Thanks for all the support everyone. Pieces of the puzzle are coming together.
I just learned I am er+, pr+, and her2-. Tomorrow I meet with 2 BS in back-to-back appointments.
I have a feeling lumpectomy will be an option for me due to where the tumor is located and at mid depth and I believe I have enough tissue to work with, but then again, what do I know, I'm not the doctor.. However, worried that they either must take too much tissue or not clear the margins forcing second surgery. in any event I'm feeling better knowing more.
Next hurdle, choose bs, which I believe will be difficult have 2 excellent ones to choose from, then choose surgery.
After that lymph node involvement next thing to worry about.
Thank you all again, for sharing your stories, offering support. Even though we don't want to belong to this club, it is great to know we have each other. That is priceless!
