    Hi -

I'm sorry that you're having this scare right now. I hope it turns out to be nothing serious, but it's good that your GP sent you to a breast clinic for an evaluation.

I had breast cancer 14 years ago and I would be happy to connect with you if that would be helpful. Feel free to e-mail me at bob@crcfl.net.

    Sending good thoughts,

    Bob Riter

    Dear Masneb,

I've talked with many people in the chat room of this site who have found a lump and want to know what the lump is by describing symptoms to the people in the chat room. It would be nice if a diagnosis could be made so easily but it can't be done. The only way to find out what kind of lump you have is to have doctors diagnose the lump. It is not possible for anyone, even doctors, to make an accurate diagnosis of a lump without tests.

I think you are wise to be going to a breast clinic as soon as you could get an appointment. It is certainly possible that your lump is breast cancer but by no means certain. I know even the thought of breast cancer is scary, I've been through it. Keep in mind that even if you have breast cancer tumors of the size you describe are very treatable. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2004, was treated, and have had no signs of breast cancer since then. Now, I'm almost a 7 year survivor and plan on living many more years cancer free.

I wish you the best and please let us know how you make out at the breast cancer clinic.
