Exercising with Prosthethic

Options

I'm hoping someone can help me with this.  I had an MRM on my right breast and I have my two prosthetics, one for daily wear and the other for active wear.  I don't wear a mastectomy sports bra but rather just a regular sports bra that has the side slit in it where i can slip the prosthetic.  However, every time when i go out for a jog or i'm on the eliptical machine the prosthetic tends to move around or ride up or a combo of both.  I'm so paranoid when i go to the gym and now i've avoiding it because of it.  Can anyone recommend suggestions on how to deal with this?  I've even tried the wearing a "puff" (stuffing inside a cotton pouch) instead of the actual prosthetic but that rides up my chest all the time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mary

Mary, I don't know if you sew, but I modified some exercise bras by cutting slits and putting Fraycheck on the cut edge. (double layered fabric, it sounds like yours have slits already so you can skip that part).  The bras that didn't have a definite separation between cups I stitched a separation down the middle.  Then I put the prosthetics in and saw where I wanted them to sit.  Next I stitched little tack stitches on either side, just under an inch down from the top of where I wanted the top of the prosthetic to sit to help hold it in place.  So when I put the prosthetics in I would glide the top of the triangle in between the tack stitches.  I hope this is clear enough for you to imagine what I did and that you find it helpful.

Mary, does your prothesis fill the cup in the sports bra. I am a bilat and wear silicone prosthetics all the time. I have not had very much problem as long as the cup isn't to large for the prothesis and my bra fits tight. I am a DDD and get bounce and movement but they seem to stay in place. At least I haven't lost one or had it end up totally out of place. I may not be working out has hard as you are.

It sounds like the cup might be too big for the breast form.  I just bought a reg. exercise bra at sports authority with the slits and it works well.  But, it is pretty snug.  I typically wear the Anita mast. sports bra or the Naturwear mast. sports bra.  I also had a single mast.

Also, I do the same as you.  One form for reg. wear and the other for sports/swimming.  Maybe it's the form?   I don't think I could wear anything other than the swim form for exercising.  I think my reg. form might move around also.  Although I have never tried it.
