Shame on Komen. I stand with Planned Parenthood. I usually do not share my political opinions, but when it comes to reducing the availabiity of breast exams...well, as you all know, that hits close to home.
-
so now everything changed!!!!!and everyone hates komen.i know i still do.did before all this shit anyway.
NOW here is the question
where do people give their $$$$$$$not to komen
WHO
stand up to cancer is wonderful but its for all kinds of cancer
Avon is good too with the research $$$$ but they use PARABINS and refuse to take them out of their products..
When people ask where do I donate I have no answer...the little people..nah.they hep the little people.I know they do.they helped many sistas on here.
WHATS GONNA HAPPEN TO RESEARCH FOR BC NOW?
-
granny, we could all walk to Buffallo in support of the vaccine! We could stay at bc-friends' and sponsors' homes along the way, drive together if we can't /don't wanna walk, we could ask rock n' roll bands (and other types - hopefully you can dance to too :-D *dancer*) and gyms, etc. to sponsor dance-ins along the way, and have a party and ask for people everywhere who want to and can to donate what they can: a peoples' movement. (Of course, and sweep up after each event, tidy too.)
Yes, I know, I'm a dreamer.... but i'm not the only one....
-
granny, I give mine directly to the organizations that are doing the research or helping those dealing with cancer directly.I have donated to BCO because of what they are doing for all sou sisters here, to a fund raiser locally for a breast cancer patient with small children and no insurance, to a Seattle hospital doing human trials on a cancer vaccine etc. I never donate to professional fundraisers with large administrative costs that pass on to the charity or research just a percentage of the donations.
-
Im with true---lets have a march to Buffalo.ya know they have all the people they need for the trial but we can go anyway....have our own walk....damn i bet we could do it in our own home towns.Just think the impact we could make.
OR
Maybe BCO could help us....and yes all the $$$$$$ would go for research & BCO
wake me up if im dreamin!!!!!!!!!1
-
granny, I love your spirit.
-dancing dancing in the street
-
Truebff, I'll follow you anywhere and donate too, if you'll keep up the verses from those wonderful oldies but goodies songs! I love'm
-
when are we gonna start?????
I AM IN!!!!!!!!
-
Susan G Komen reversed there plan, so they will still be doing the funding for planned parenthood. Glad they decided not to let us down.
-
granny - Who do we donate our money to - BCO of course. Makes much more sense than Komen. They messed up when they let their political views come out.
-
I totally agree.BCO saved my life along with millions of other sistas...hoowever I would like them to get involved with the funding of research....
hey I am a volunteer!!!!!!!!
We need the $$$$$$$$$
Komen suks!!!!!!!!
We will get hurt by all this bullshit!!!!!!!!
AM I DREAMING???????IF SO I DONT WANT TO WAKE UP..
ya know i always say...find a damn cure/vacine...we need the $$$$$ for research!!!!!!
AND once again we are gonna get hurt by all this bullshit between komen and PP.
When everything else fails take it into your own hands!!!!!!!
-
fyi,,, Komen also does not support notifying women that they have dense breasts. I guess they only support early detection for some.
-
I also give locally and to BCO, but when I want to give nationally, I give to the
National Breast Cancer Coalition
Their focus is on research and advocacy for a cure and they have set a deadline to end breast cancer.
It has a A rating on Charity Watch. Be careful however because other organizations who get a F rating have similar names. Read this Charity Watch article for more info...

ok should I change my profile pic or not?
glad they reversed their decision...
-
No one hates pink more then I do....BUT its that baby pink i hate.....just love HOT PINK
QUESTION----Susan--do you wear pink for bc?
If the answer is yes CHANGE THE PICTURE!!!!!!
-
Granny I love pink but I liked it way before BC. So I wear it because it looks good on me not for BC
-
I love pink has always been my favorite color. But I do now wear it for BC (sorry) I have jewelry and all for my BC and I wear it with pride. Lets people know what I have been through.
-
Gosh, I feel like every time I see pink, it reminds me of the disease. I skip on pink clothes, although my sister gave me a pink scarf that I will wear.
-
I like pink.
(I liked it way back when too. Colors, in my humble opinion, (artist too though
) should not be designated to a category that confines it. Maybe we could invent "motor-cycle pink" or "graduate student pink" or ??? just to even the current playing field???)

So sad the Komen got so much attention recently, women with breast cancer need the energy....I read Nancy Briker's book (Komen founder and sister of Komen). I was shocked to find out that a few years after Komen died, Nancy got BC too. I think she was able to be a better advocate for herself with the knowledge she acquired trying to start the foundation after her sister died. It is an interesting book. It was given to me shortly after I started treatment. In between chapters are pink pages with the history of breast cancer....some of this made me sick to my stomach...Science has come a long way - My mom had 40 nodes removed in 1998, and had them all clear. I had two removed with SNB in 2011....I really don't know who funds it, just glad they do.
-
Well, my profile pick is from the Komen run last summer. So, although I don't normally wear pink for BC (even though I have all the bracelets, shirts, pins etc.), I did give my money to Komen. I don't like to wear pink for BC because I try to not be reminded of it 24/7. Usually, I still am, though. It is a hard experience to forget.
-
Im thrilled there will be no more pinktober......enuf of that shit.....
someone posted the bc pink symbol in green. Then someone said its gonna be peach.
enuf!!!!!!!we got enuf attention............
NOW....FIND A DAMN CURE/VACINE.....
-
