Did you mean CT? I'm not familiar with an ST scan.
I'm not sure if a CT scan shows arthritis or not. You say this scan showed somthing wrong. The results of this scan belong to you. My suggestion is to go back to the doctors office and ask for a copy of the scan report (not the image, just the report). Let us know what the report says and maybe we can help you interpet the message.

The CT scan does give a lot of information, but they usually use the CT scan along with other scans for confirmation of cancer. CT scans can show arthritis, old fractures, small abnormal areas that mean nothing and more. The best way to understand your scan is to talk to your doctor and to request a copy for your own files.

My onc tells me that all sorts of things show up on scans (PET/CT, MRI, bone scan, etc.) but only biopsy can tell for sure if it's cancer. Hopefully, whatever showed up on your scan is benign. Take care.

Thank you ,girls, for reading my post.Yes,I have my ST neck scan.its say:Impression:multiple areas of lucency throughout the cervical spine some of which may represent lytic.metastatic disease .nuclear medicine bone Scan and?or MRI is recommeded for further evalution.the previos imaging of the cervical spine would be helpful as well.however this does not appear to be available at this time.clinical correlation suggested.
I very scared.somebody have same problems?I can,t have MRI,I have only MEDICAL.

I wish I could give you some words of wisdom hope, but I think you definitely need to talk to your doc to get a clearer interpretation of what that all means. Sometimes our version can scare the bugeezus out of us.

What has your doctor said about this? Do you have someone else to go with you to your appointments? Having another person there can be very, very helpful because sometimes we are getting more information than we can handle at one time.
The report mentioned a bone scan OR an MRI. Maybe the best option is a bone scan. Does your ins. cover that test?

Hope,
I wish I could be there to hold your hand and help you work through the fear.
I'm still trying to come up with ideas for you. Is there a social worker at your cancer center or doctor's office? If so, I think it would be a good idea to talk with this person and see if they can get you some assistance. That's their job - knowing what resources are out there to help both emotionally and financially. And if your doc's office doesn't have a social worker then they should have information on support organizations that you could go to.
Another idea is for you to call the American Cancer Society's "Reach to Recovery" helpline at 1-800-227-2345. I don't think that they will have any financial help for you but it is supposed to match you up with a cancer survivor with a diagnosis similiar to yours. Talking with someone on the phone (instead of through a computer) can be very helpful.
Let us know if either of these ideas work. Each state and region has different resources so they might be some very good organization in the California area that you live in that I am unaware of.

Anacortes..,thank you for your care.I have halp from SS.more concerne about my two CT scans.First say:( CT was only on my neck, had terribly pain). It say:multiple arias of lucency the cervical spine of which may represent lytic.
Today I got second report(CT ) (bone scan). Its say:findings completable with typical metastatic osteoblastic neoplastic process are not present this time.
I don,t understand, why both report so different!Today doctor said,: we can do biopsy. Can you, girls, tell on what aria they do biopsy?I had only on my breast. Thank you, ladies, for your concern.I will pray for all so nice ladies on this site.Bless you!

You need to ask your doctor why one scans sees suspicious areas and the other one doesn't. There was a reason for getting two separate scans but I don't know enough to guess why you were given two scans.
I can't give you any information on how a biopsy is performed on suspicious areas of the spine. I'm only familiar with the biopsy that was done on my breast. Hopefully someone else with that experience will chime in.
