I live in Ontario where the test is paid for by OHIP.

I was wondering how long the results took. I know in the States it takes 10 -14 days.

I am dealing with the Sudbury cancer center and had the test ordered on Jan 23rd.

Thanks

I had the Onco test in August they quoted 12 days turn around time. You can actually call their customer service center. The number is on the onco test web page. They will tell you exactly where in the pathology and tumor typing process your tissue is and tell you expected date of final review. Their customer service center was amazingly helpful: Tel: (866) ONCOTYPE (866-662-6897) .  Good luck to you.

    Thanks again Bevin,

I know the results are in the Sudbury cancer center I just want to know how long they have known the results!! My mind is going to dark places and I tend to try and put pieces together like a puzzle to try and ease my anxiety. I am sure you all know what I am talking about!!

I will call the center on Monday and also get a hold of my family Dr.

Waiting is sooo difficult, and we do lots of it!

Judging from your treatment plan, it appears your medical team expects your Oncotype to be low.  Hope that's how it turns out.  I am in the Minneapolis, MN area and my oncotype (8) was available in my oncologist's office when I went for my first visit two and a half weeks after BMX.(No rads, no chemo, on Arimidex)

I hope for the best for you.

    Wow Catbill,

Sounds as if your team was on the ball. Yes, they expect my score to be low ( please God, let it be so ) I have been on Tamox for the last 2 months and have had an easy time of it. In the realm of BC, I have been lucky.

I hope the best for me too! Smile

    Bevin,

I called the Oncotype center and you are right, they were very helpful. They faxed my results over on March 2nd my Dr. called and changed my appt on the 3rd. I know I should be handling this stupid little appt. change better. I have a huge lump in my throat and keep crying! I plan to go too the gym and get some serious cardio in so I can at least breathe.

How are things with you? I read a thread where you wrote about something unknown in your lungs. I hope you have more information by now and your mind is at ease.

Hi Timerdog - so glad your Onco is done. Crossing my fingers you're not in any grey zone! I know this is a scary time. I can remember back in August when I was going through all this. It's hard to not think the worst.  But with zero lymph nodes and Grade 1 , you hopefully will have a nice and low Onco score and you'll have a choice about what you want to do.

Thanks for asking re: my lung. yes - a lesion was found due to some symptoms that they thought were something else. They found the lung lesion and I had a CATS scan 2 weeks ago and now a PET. Their hoping they can tell better if its something of concern. I am a bit nervous, its scheduled for tomorrow.

Let me know how your score turns out.  Wishing you the best!!

    Hi Bevin,

My Oncotype test was 27. I start chemo on Monday. My tumor was actually 2 cm. The first pathology was WRONG! If I had not ordered the test then who knows when it would be discovered. With chemo I have an 8% chance of distant reoccurrence, without chemo my chances are 20%.

I wish the best on your test results as well Bevin.
