What foods can your taste buds tolerate?

I am just wondering if anyone out there would be willing to share with me the foods you can stand to eat during chemo. I am so sick of eggs and potatoes which seem to be the 2 things that I can put in to my mouth without wanting to just starve myself. I even have to force myself just to drink water. Any advice would help. Thanks.

I ate a lot of mashed potatoes with cheese or cream cheese, toast. Couldn't stand water, mostly 7-up, milk, ice-tea. NJ

Grilled cheese was my favorite meal.  And as far as water... mineral water mixed approx. 3 to 1 with apple juice worked for me.  Towards the end of chemo, I was even putting chocolate syrup in my mineral water (along with a bit of milk), to make sort of an old fashion egg cream soda.  But my taste buds were so finicky --  the bubbles in Perrier seemed to "harsh" to me.  I much preferred one of the other European brands (forget which one), because of its "softer" evervesence.

But hang in there!  You'll get through it!     Deanna

I couldn't stand anything sweet.  Salty food was much more tolerable.  I ate a lot of Lipton Chicken Soup.

It sounds funny but potato salad and hot dogs. I liked the spicier foods when I could eat them. I ate lots of soup after chemo.  Potato chips also settled my stomach, I think it was the salt.I drank water as pop  upset the stomach and do not forget watermelon.  Dianne

I love pineapple and someone here suggested frozen pineapple chunks -- and they were SO good!  Even when my tastebuds went south with taxotere, I could always go into the freezer and pull out a few -- even if I couldn't really taste them, I still remembered the flavour!

Aside from the eggs and mashed potatoes I find rice goes down well and baked chicken or chicken pot pies. Also toast, applesauce, cheese, most vegetables, potato chips, mild sausage..

I couldn't stand water either but made myself drink it with lots of ice. Semi-flat gingerale was okay but apple juice and apple cider went down the best. Milk was okay. I did manage chocolate cake, coconut custard pie and pizza. I even craved Big Macs at one point and KFC which I enjoyed. It seemed to vary from day to day what I felt like eating.
